Fear of homosexuality

Jesus was obsessed with saving people, as evidenced by how he lived and died. People who kick Christ's salvation to the curb are the ones responsible for any damnation they might receive.

Salvation does not entail denying one's nature or identity and becoming something one is not.

Christ's love and salvation is toxic? Bull. I don't know what was eating you but it wasn't Christ and his love and salvation.
No, it's people putting forth judgementalism, shame, and bigotry as love and salvation that eat one's soul.

If you study Paul, you discover that he was a product of his culture, where homosexuality was unknown as an orientation and, therefore, all same-sex acts were viewed as "unnatural." It has nothing to do with religious morals and has everything to do with the cultural taboo of the time.
I agree, but if you also read about his unspecified shame it appears that he may have been talking about his own homosexual tendencies.

Your idea of love is contrary to Godly standards.
Your idea of what constitutes love is contrary to Godly standards.

"Love does not rejoice in iniquity"
Committed, loving, consenting relationships, whether hetero or homosexual aren't an example of iniquity.

"Love does no harm to a neighbor"
Committed, loving and consenting same-sex relationships don't harm neighbors.

So, nice try but no cigar.

As to what the Bible says, I sadly do have to agree with @shmogie . But that is only more evidence that the Bible is not the Word of God.
I don't agree with him. He's wrong. There was no concept of sexual orientation in the biblical world. The word cannot have meant "homosexuality." It most likely meant "male prostitute."

If it's all about love then two adulterers in love must be okay with God too. Nope, not a chance.

For the record,

"Love does not rejoice in iniquity" - 1 Corinthians 13

And,

"Love does no harm to a neighbor" - Romans 13:10 (Love does no harm to a neighbor, like enticing one's neighbor into a sinful relationship for which there are negative temporal and eternal consequences)

So, nice try but no cigar.
What does that have to do with homosexuals? They aren't "rejoicing in iniquity" or doing "harm to a neighbor" by being gay. The only ones who it does bother are those who can't mind their own business and let other people live their own lives.
God spoke out many times on "stiff-necked" people and what their fate would be. Others who bad mouth God wouldn't even be breathing today except for the grace of God.
I'm actually breathing today due to significant medical advances that allowed me to survive my birth. It was a scary time, and I had very little chance of survival. But those medical advances and the medical training of those who delivered allowed me to draw air beyond my first day. When I was suicidal, it wasn't god but my own resilience that I am still drawing air.
Read the Bible.
I have. I'm confident in saying I know if far better than the majority of Christians. And actually reading it is a part of how I was able to leave Christ, because as I was struggling, when I turned to the Bible for answers and guidance I found none. What I saw was bloodshed, genocide, torture, slavery, rape, and all sorts of atrocities committed either at the hands of god himself, upon god's direct request, the request of his prophets, or done in his name. I saw people who were being tortured and abused by Jehovah and Christ far worse than I was.

I don't think that's the case, but I can see how you might think so.
In one way or another, be it a chasm, fire, darkness, or separation, Jesus often mentions eternal punishment. More than enough to instill a real fear of it, and a terrifying fear of falling short and being sent there. Being considered guilty just for being born and thus deserving of this punishment doesn't help, and certainly worsens things. Jesus may speak of love, but speaking of eternal damnation is often just around the corner.

I think that weighing the texts is the responsible thing to do. The texts say a lot of things. We have to weigh what's useful for us, and what is not. And, for the record, I don't think we're guilty just for being born. That kind of theology just doesn't wash.

It was, and it's not nonsense. It was rotting me from the inside out. And if you've never heard such claims before, you've not listened to the world. I'm hardly the only one who was being destroyed by following Christ. It's gaining some traction in academic study, and is known as

So the love of Christ sickens you? That's bizarre.

The only way I might see something like that happen in an individual (not talking about you) is if they had a demon(s) living inside of them. The demon would make one sick at the mention of Christ and his Word in order to make the individual think it was Christ making them sick. I would recommend that individual get spiritual help to get rid of those demons. Demons cause all kinds of sickness in the Bible. Christ heals.

I have no demons in me, and hearing the mention of Christ or words of the Bible didn't make me ill. It was following Jesus that left me so miserable I wanted to die. And attempted to die, once.
