Femininity and Meow

Riding on the coattails of the masculinity thread, I was curious about perceptions of femininity.

Do y’all consider me feminine with the swearing, the drinking, the tattoos, the occasional irreverence, standing up for myself, and blah?

Because I do, but I know that definitely isn’t traditional. I don’t think tradition is the greatest measure of masculinity or femininity in my book.

Honestly? You seem feminine to me in pictures with the energy your pictures give off.

I see you as feminine, but as for providing the definition of femininity I use...... I'm not ready to make a long post about it right on the spot.

Yep. You're way too introspective and self aware to be masculine...lol

Anyway sorry for making the thread about me, I was just curious. Femininity and masculinity are hard to define in substantive ways.

I think @ADigitalArtist 's post in the Masculinity thread does a good job. It really is kinda hard to define.

I guess, to me, masculinity is more dealing with action(whether physically or mentally), and femininity is more dealing with feelings, intuition, and comfortability. Its not that these traits belong to just men or women; we're all a mixture of both. Some people just seem to exude one or the other, but its really quite hard to quantify.

For anyone who follows my posts, I'm wondering whether they have noticed anything about me that is a bit different than June/July when I was adopting the wolverine persona more? Chances are I have a lot / quite a bit more estrogen in my system, now.

Femininity, the ability to be completely mysterious and an open book at the same time.

I think I have this intuition too. I’m active, but I like feeling safe more than risking my neck. I will if it’s called for, but the feeling is there. I put emphasis on intuition (though I know intuition can be false and act accordingly when it is), feelings are very important to me, and so is comfort.

But I don’t know how much is extroversion vs introversion too. In a sense, going back to intuition, masculinity and femininity seem to be intuitions we have I guess.

When I was younger and got out more, there was a phrase I heard a lot:

"You're not really a girl, are you!"

I looked the part. There was no denying I was female. But once the personality came out, it threw things for a loop.

(I suspect I only don't hear it now because I'm fairly isolated.)

You seem feminine to me. I wondered if I could have picked you out if your were more anonymous, but I think so.

It is hard to say. I know that I put an initial identity in my mind and it is difficult to break from that. Correct or not. Even though this is social media, we still have the limitations of not being present for each other. That sort of thing provides more information that we cannot get here.

I like to read and I have started reading stories and assuming identities for the characters, only to discover that my assumptions were off for bias or even wrong. In that case, we often put ourselves as the model on which we let the characters become formed. I wonder if that phenomenon is just me and, if not, if it translates to this forum in some degree. In my own way, I am driving how I am perceived by using the cute, fuzzy bunny avatar. Of course, that is not to convey masculinity or femininity, but other characters.

I would imagine the impact of increased hormones would have some impact on your emotional personality and it would show up here. It could be that I may just not be that perceptive or it translates subtly.

To cite another example, I don't see @Revoltingest as Groundskeeper Willie but a landlord. However, in Revolting's case, he chose a character so close to what seems to be his own personality, that it's really easy to role-play him as Groundskeeper Willie.

Cool. However, I will note that I see you a bit differently than a cute, fuzzy bunny. More like a gentle Christian scientist who doesn't really fit stereotypes of scientists.
I am always not quite in one group or another in some ways. I am always somewhere in the middle.

That would be an interesting experiment haha. Not just for masculinity and femininity but if RFers could respond to questions anonymously somehow and have people guess who it is answering

"Guess which RFer I'm thinking about".... Kinda like 20 questions?
