Femininity and Meow

If I'm being honest, I think it might very mildly bug me just because femininity is part of my identity, even if I step back and try to look at it without bias, I do have tradiationally masculine traits. Maybe rather than being annoyed by that I should re-evaluate why it would annoy me at all.

Edit: I say things like "tomboyish tendencies" because I guess it does bug me, I never realized that because I hadn't asked myself that.
I have many interests that would not be seen as traditionally masculine, but I could care less what somebody might think of me for having them. I like antiques. Don't really care much one way or the other about sports. I can go shopping for hours with a woman and hold all her purchases while enjoying myself doing so. I don't care about trendy clothes much, but I practice good grooming. I like hand made crafts. Not sure where that puts me on the spectrum. I also hunt, own guns and read books about war. I care about other peoples feelings, the environment and puppies. Not sure where that puts me. I used to do musical theater. And I had fun doing it. In some places that might get me a smackdown.

I have severe tokophobia and as well as this I just have always found babies a bit gross. I like kids once they can walk and talk :D
That is interesting. Even if you love babies, they are still gross at times. They explode from every orifice for no apparent reason and at random. They will pick up anything and put it in their mouth. They wear their meals. You get used to it.

Riding on the coattails of the masculinity thread, I was curious about perceptions of femininity.

Do y’all consider me feminine with the swearing, the drinking, the tattoos, the occasional irreverence, standing up for myself, and blah?

Because I do, but I know that definitely isn’t traditional. I don’t think tradition is the greatest measure of masculinity or femininity in my book.
To get the “traditional” definitions, you really have to go back in time 30 to 50 years; and even then the sitcoms made fun of them constantly.
As others have pointed out, what defines femininity (and masculinity) is really in the mind of the beholder, and even there it can very with the situation and from minute to minute.
To me:
- swearing = kind of crass, whether from a man or woman
- drinking = no prob.
- tattoos = some are tasteful. Some are even attractive. But most are a waste of good skin. Feminine or masculine depends upon what is pictured. o_O
- Irreverence - that’s more feminine than masculine, and always has been. Men have always taken **** too seriously for there own (and everyone else’s) own good.
- standing up for yourself - Good gods I should hope so. Masculine yes. Feminine yes. Not standing up for yourself = weak child. Definitely NOT feminine.:rolleyes:

I've seen Donnie Darko too many times. And Harvey once. So rabbits are notoriously male to my mind. And up to no good.
We sure are. Some of us look innocent, but we have aspirations of global domination. We already have Australia.

I dislike babies :grimacing:

You know, I loved my babies very much, but I don't like dealing with other people's. Its not that I dislike them, its that I respect their personal space. I wouldn't want someone picking me up and making noise in my face, so I don't do it to them. (I have been known to discuss news or politics with infants, though.) I definitely like the 'kid' stage better, but teenager isn't fun. Its not as bad as I've heard it can get, but it gets old that the kid hates everything I like just because I like it. (Other than Queen.)

I worked at an adult group home for the severely handicapped for over a decade. The adults there did that, but babies are much smaller. It put things in perspective, and any 'blowout' my kids had paled in comparison. If one can clean it up with paper towels rather than beach towels, its not a problem.

I was a little uptight about it at first, but I learned some things from the explosions, big or little. It isn't the explosion but finding the patience to deal with something natural that is not willful or done to inconvenience me. I was the one that changed my attitude. I got used to it. There was a much bigger picture where people depended on me. I even wondered about my own former career as an 'explosives' expert to give me a better perspective on the matter.
