I am currently trying to find new recipies and i'm continualy finding out there are alot of tasty foods out there that i haven't tried yet.

Do you know any foods that are realy tasty that you wish someone has told you of before?

For the student gourmande, Instant Curry noodles (koka preffered) , broccolli, pineapple, cashew nuts and peanut butter, *edit* , veggie satay, I lived off variations of this when I was 19.

When I was little my Indian neighbour used to make a dessert that was made from carrots, that was really suprisingly good, I can't remember what it was called, my brain keeps coming up with halva but I know it's wrong.

Lamb. Normally I hate lamb, you just can't make it taste right for me. But the Turks managed to do so by cubing it and putting it on skewers. Turkish bar-b-que shish-k-bobs. I still like beef and pork much better but at least I can eat lamb like this without turning green.

Vegemite.

For those who dont know, its a thick black paste made from a yeast extract. Much the same as promite and marmite. Ohhh so yummy on toast. There wouldnt be many mornings in my nearly 27 years that i havent had vegemite on toast.

Get out of my head!

Speaking of things on toast, peanut butter and jam (jelly for Americans) and peanut butter and honey are both delicious.

This does sound pretty disgusting. I'll have to try it sometime. :D

Technically, jam and jelly are two different things here. Jelly is basically just flavored gelatin. Jam has the mushed up fruit bits in it. I prefer jam.

salmon. I was never much of a fish eater(always afraid I'd choke on a bone).
But Hubby insisted I take a taste when we were out at a local restaurant. It was delicious. Since then, I have learned to make it myself. Added plus is that he likes my recipe better. (Not as much seasonings.)

Smoke

Done here.
Figs. My mother used to cook them, and I never liked them at all.
Raw, they're delicious.

Mango jam. Not that I was avoiding it; I had just never heard of it before. Now a close second to my lifelong favorite toast spread: red currant jelly.

Are you in the US? I've never heard of any jelly (in the North American sense) containing gelatin. It's just like jam, but without the fruit bits.

I have to agree. Jelly seems to have a more gel-like consistency, where jam seems more mashed fruit like. I also prefer jam. Jelly can be too sweet sometimes.
