Doubting Thomas
The authenticity isn't the topic. The message of John's Gospel is the topic, regardless who wrote it or if it is true or false.
And I still claim it is not recorded in that gospel that Jesus ever claimed to be God. I think most scholars would agree.

I'm pressed for time at the moment.....so....

Jesus spoke of Himself to say....brother and fellow servant.
I should not add to that and it would further the distance already there.

He is reported having power over death, substance and natural forces.
As such he will be a Power to be reckoned with.

Even so...His own declaration indicates we can approach.

As for angelic and divine.......we should all endeavor as much.
We can't walk among the angelic without grace.
They won't allow it.

Neither do they allow a surrendered knee before them.

Your knee belongs to God.
This is true, but then there's accounts of Enoch being elevated to angelic status upon his assumption in different 2nd Temple apocrypha. In 2 Enoch, God transforms Enoch into an angel and commands the other angels to bow to him. Other Jewish writings went further and claimed that Enoch was Metatron, the angel of haShem. We also know Metatron as God's direct representative and has God's "name", the lesser YHVH. Enoch and Yeshua were both spared from death, and Elijah is supposed to appear with the messiah, another man who never died. I feel like the gospel writings were drawing from a complex source of ideas.

Do you worship Jesus? Isn't that polytheism, if you do?

If you don't worship Jesus, is that really Xianity?

Whenever we speak of God it always pertains to God the father. In actuality, it is the God of Israel who is worshiped,
through, with and in the name of Jesus, the Son.
