person
pûr′sən
noun
  1. A living human. Often used in combination.
  2. An individual of specified character.
  3. The composite of characteristics that make up an individual personality; the self.

It seems like it fits the person of a baby in the womb?
And then there's the question about other things
found in the womb, eg, fertilized egg, fetus.

Thank you for your answer.
So an abortion is doable even at the 32nd week?
your bible doesn't recognize a fetus as a soul. a soul has the breath of life in it, a mind. literally ruach
Family size calculations include JR.
the extra weight gain is needed obviously. but that is only for those wanting a baby. also, the ot and nt do not recognize a spirit in a fetus. it's only after birth and taking the breath of life that it is counted.

are you seriously wanting to change the bible too?

actually it doesn't. wic is for the pregnant mother. you can't feed food to a fetus.

a fetus can't even get insurance. only the mother is registered

a fetus isn't registered for anything.

the mother is vital to the potential fetus.

the fetus isn't vital the vital mother.
When a mom is pregnant, she doesn't go around saying "I have a fetus in my womb", unless I have misheard. What I hear here saying is "My baby is growing beautifully" or some other wonderful statement.

it doesn't matter what a mother says. people project all kinds of things that aren't necessarily true.

mothers are sometimes devastated when they miscarry.

Yes,
fetus (n.)
late 14c., "the young while in the womb or egg" (tending to mean vaguely the embryo in the later stage of development), from Latin fetus (often, incorrectly, foetus) "the bearing or hatching of young, a bringing forth, pregnancy, childbearing, offspring," from suffixed form of PIE root *dhe(i)- "to suck."

In Latin, fetus sometimes was transferred figuratively to the newborn creature itself, or used in a sense of "offspring, brood" (as in Horace's Germania quos horrida parturit Fetus), but this was not the usual meaning. It also was used of plants, in the sense of "fruit, produce, shoot," and figuratively as "growth, production." The spelling foetus is sometimes attempted as a learned Latinism, but it is unetymological (see oe).

I think the word "fetus" when it is "the young in the womb" has desensitized our understanding.

some mothers are relieved when they lose a fetus; either by spontaneous abortion or assisted. not everything is a black and white situation.
And some people take their lives... so?

So would you agree on banning late term abortions with federal law (in all states)?
And I mean 20th week as deadline.
Even though I agree (and insist on including "elective"), I don't do that because the fetus is (nor does it make it) a person.

Universal human rights?

*proceeds to exit thread*
Universal human rights include reproductive rights.

And rhe UDHR explicitly recognizes (in Article 12) the right to privacy that the US Supreme Court had to throw out in order to overturn Roe v. Wade.

again body autonomy. the bible places no emphasis on the body. the emphasis is on mind, consciousness, spirit.

jesus even said it, the spirit quickeneth, the flesh counts for nothing.

the dead are spirits inhabiting graves. you call them bodies. the body has become more important than the spirit.

would you like to rewrite the bible?

So you've never heard pregnant people say things like "we're expecting" (i.e. "we're awaiting something that isn't here yet")? Weird.

I think people call a fertilized egg a "baby"
so as to over-sensitize themselves.
Tis very snowflakie to lose the distinction
between such things.
since "fetus" is a modern day designation... I wills tay with the original designation of "baby" :) let love flow and call me a snowflake if you so desire :)
