Fuhrer Trump: No muslim welcome for 4 months

It is not a ban on Muslims, it is a ban on people from countries where terrorist are more likely to come from. What is wrong with taking time to be sure those who are allowed in are not terrorists.
Then why not the Saudi's, where most of the hijackers came from during 9-11?

Secondly, the vetting process takes two years to get into the U.S. from Syria, and is it overwhelming women with children that are being let in, although in relatively small numbers as compared to Europe.

Thirdly, do you realize how this is all playing overseas, including our allies who are now in a state of shock? And ISIS loves this.

Finally, whether intended or not, this is coming off nothing short of religious bigotryt.

Because bigotry is exactly what it is.

Well said.

So we'll only let these so-called terrorists come to the US where Trump has business relations. I'm sure *those* terrorists are far less violent.

The whole thing is based on fear-mongering and is despicable. America should be ashamed.

Donald Trump is now officially gunning for the Muslims. On Friday, he signed an executive order titled Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States. The order is nothing short of a Muslim ban by another name. It is cruel and callous, espouses positions contrary to the professed values of the United States, and will certainly produce more problems than it purports to solve. In other words, it’s exactly like Donald Trump.

I cannot tell you how livid these scant pages of bureaucratic language make me. In them, Trump is returning the country to the dark days of excluding masses of people on the basis of our national prejudices. It’s as if we’ve reverted to the late 19th century when laws were passed to bar Chinese entry to the United States, but this time the action is by executive fiat and trained on Muslims. Not incidentally, the case law for Chinese Exclusion also established the legal authority for the National Security Entry-Exist Registration System (Nseers), the US government’s previous incarnation of a Muslim registry. We’re never far away from our demons.

Well he can ban muslims but he cant put them in concentration camps out of fear for "eye for an eye" and also economical reasons.
Ironically he didnt put Saudi Arabia and other gulf states in his list because money talks.

You're overstating and inflaming things. Shame.

I suppose the best we can hope for is that congress decides the president only gets so many executive orders per term.

Politics talks as well. Do note the nations not on the list are far more aligned with American geopolitical sphere than those on the list.

The gulf states are also where most of the terrorist come from, are financed and are trained.

Sure I do not dispute this. I am pointing out another connection that differentiates between those on the list and not on the list. Foreign policy does have a habit of turning a blind eye to certain events, acts, points, policy, etc if a great one is put forward. To put it simply terrorism, while an important issue, is not the as large of an issue as the order and it's basis claims.

By making exclusions for Christians, he's made the entire thing about religion. . .
This is merely rectifying the disgusting indifference to the depravities visited upon the Christian populations displayed by the previous administration. 1/2 of 1 percent of refugees accepted into America were Christian. When almost 13 thousand refugees were admitted in 2016, less than 70 were Christian.

There was an effective ban on Christian refugees here under Obama; can you point out to me the threads here calling him out as a bigoted monster for that affront?

I'm not in favor of a full ban on refugees, but this part was necessary.

I don't get this. 81% of white evangelical Christians voted for Trump, and I didn't understand it then. He did not run on a pro-Christian platform . . . Yet somehow they knew that he'd stab secular government in the back, and go Christian platform in his governing.
I really don't know what to say. This should have been fully expected, not that I agree with your characterization of it. He clearly ran on a platform of not treating Christians as if they and their morals and values are some heavy yoke society has to bear, rather, as the solid core of our society and culture.

It seems the first court cases have already been lodged over this.

I was just listening to an American law professor on the BBC who said a deluge of cases is on its way.
Particularly since none of the terrorist attacks in the US were from the seven nations involved. And is unconstitutional.
BUT I am sure Trump is not interested in such details.
