The books clearly state the firmament was solid in the sense it was a barrier that kept water off the earth.
It was based on pervious Mesopotamian mythology used in both Gen 1 and Gen 2 finished possibly in Mesopotamia before the return from exile.
Moses was before the 70 years of "exile"/captivity for NOT adhering to the "thus saith the Lord GOD".
What mankind has devised in his imagination and accepted as truth as seen by Eve and the Serpent/as well as the flood---and still today as attested to in/with the "theory of evolution" with its component parts---continues.
Therefore, I do not take Gesenius's lexicon totally. The Scriptures state Gen.1:14-18, that the sun, moon, and stars are "in the "firmament".
Isa.40:12-14, reads,"Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or
being his counsellor hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and
who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?"
Paul then wrote from that:
Rom.11:33-34, "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable
are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? "
And you fault me for not believing the opinions of puny man rather than the Creator GOD??
