And you think they would have stopped with the twin towers had we not done something to break up their little gang of thugs?

Personally, I think they were lucky to succeed with the WTC, and pretty much wanted to cause the misaimed and out-of-proportion reation that GWB gave them.

You are aware that occupying Iraq in no way avenged or discouraged the terrorists who attacked the Towers, aren't you?

*sigh*

So much for Christianity huh?

I find views such as the one expressed here indistinguishable from those of Bin Laden.

This view is as completely barking mad as that of those you perceive as your enemy.

Brute force means lots of dead people.

Like Bush said, it is our freedom that is appalling to them. Anything that takes away freedom should be fought against. al-queda doesn't want freedom for its followers, it wants submission.

The policies of the American government with regard to the people that ended up at GITMO take away freedom.

You can justify any evil with this thinking, and that's exactly what you're attempting to do.

War is sometimes a necessary step to obtaining, and securing freedom. That is a fact of history.

It's also the excuse Stalin used when he invaded Poland.
In securing your freedom GWB has reduced it, tarnished it and put many many innocent people into the ground. He has instigated unaccountable secret service behaviour worthy of the Gestapo and he has recruited hundreds of thousands of minds for the enemies of your country.

Seems like he has failed miserably.

As a bonus his policies have made the world a poorer, more unstable and dangerous place for the rest of us. Brilliant.

These people have infiltrated the U.S. and are prepared to strike at any moment. You think these people will befriend you when they take over the U.S. No they will give you an ultimatum.... bow before allah or die. sharia law executes people like you and me bub

You give Al Qaeda a lot of credit, not to mention seeing them in Saddam-ruled Iraq, where they simply were not present. Saddam and Al Qaeda hated the guts of each other.

I don't agree with the Iraq thing either, but the people of Iraq were certainly glad we were there in the beginning. They just wanted us to liberate them and then scoot.

One can only wonder why so many civilians died in a country that welcomed the US troops so gladly...

It was all candy and sunshine until we destroyed the entire infrastructure.

And then paid billions to rebuild a crappy one.

Obama hasn't exactly brought all the troops home. In fact he has increased our military presence in wars that Bush started, like in Afghanistan for example. You condemn Bush for starting wars, but what about Obama breaking all of his promises to bring the boys home, and close Gitmo btw.
No argument there.
That does not let Bush of the hook.

Um, Obama got all the combat troops out of Iraq and closing Gitmo is a wicked mess.

You ignore islams worldwide threat of terrorism, and distract us with Bush. How blind

The only reason for this is that terrorists have access to planes, trains, and automobiles. They are a mobile threat, which is why it's insane to destroy countries, murder and torture hundreds of thousands of innocents, and restrict the liberties of free citizens in the name of killing them.
