Getting away with murder.

This has been huge in Florida so I have been able to follow every little step of the way.

First the Prosecutors didn't have enough evidence and they knew it.
They listed the charges separately, knowing full well that it was unlikely that they could get her for 1st degree murder.

They should have pinned her for involuntary manslaughter at the most.
Then child endangerment and neglect.
Then lying to the investigators.
And so on.

Just like O.J., I do believe that Casey Anthony did the crime, however taking the evidence at face value and the prosecution not being able to create enough doubt that she was innocent, you have to respect jurors verdict. It was quick and they didn't ask for any recounts on the case. Seems like they all felt that the prosecution failed.

Tip: Its the defense that provides the doubt.
The prosecutor has to prove his case beyond the reasonable doubt that the defense provides.

Good, you shouldn't convict someone based on hearsay and gossip. There is a reason the Jurors where sequestered, they weren't hearing all the charged media frenzy crap we where. If you want to blame someone blame the prosecution, as has been said. You're not supposed to base your decision on emotions or "gut feeling" and I wouldn't want any jurors on a trial that would.

That said if she was a man and/or a minority she would have probably gotten the needle, which is pretty messed up too. I've never understood the fascination for this case, I mean it's sad that a little kid died but atrocities like it happen all the time in our backyard and everywhere. It's hard not to come away with the conclusion that the media/public is only fascinated in it because everyone is pretty and white.

I personally know someone who got away with murder on a technicality. The "victim" was his uncle who was abusing him sexually, so the guy got what was coming to him.

Obviously this case is much worse because a child died. The prosecution really screwed the pooch on this one. From what I heard, the case should not have even made it to trial.

So where is the part where he got away? What was the technicality?

I haven't really followed this case. In fact, I hadn't heard of it till I saw this thread.

That said, I agree with others that any blame should be aimed at the prosecution, rather than the jury.
