I'm sorry if you subjectively feel i presented myself in a "spiteful" manner.

I'm glad that you aren't here to be spiteful, but you did take a negative meaning from my response, that was riddled with false assumptions.

In order to properly answer that question of yours, you will have to re-word it. I'm afraid that I am not entirely clear of what you were asking.

I was addressing your question that so many atheist are spiteful and explained why they are... I don't think I come off as spiteful... and I think I'm pretty open minded... so it obviously doesn't apply to me. But I'm just saying.

You come across as frustrated for sure, a little angry perhaps. If that is not the reality then I'm glad to have it cleared up.

I'm not sure you gave any meaning, you just said you were into spirtuality....what false assumptions?

ok the original question was: "is there an reasoning behind this? or did you just figure "i don't know", therefore i'll just believe i do, and call it spirtuality...?"

Re-wording: "is there any reasoning behind this?

i'll just use that part...

I love you.

Yeah I'm frustrated when (it seems like) someone holds a position that's so wrong and bigoted out of emotion But it's not because I'm an atheist.

Reason behind what? Why I believe in spirituality? Why I defined spirituality as I did?

Your false assumptions included:

"not answers that make me feel good about believing i know something"
"when in reality i still don't know ,and have closed my mind to searching for the truth"
"by accepting anything"

So this is what you think every religious person is like? A bit rude, really, hence my comment about spitefulness.

Yeh, I think everyone can relate to those feelings.

i wasn't assuming this about you or your beliefs, this seems to be what i see from theist in "general" i've discussed religion with, that's not an assumption.
actually i did assume you chose to feel good about yourself? was that false?
So this is what you think every religious person is like? A bit rude, really, hence my comment about spitefulness.
A false assumption on your part, I never made such a claim, nor did i state every theist thought that way. If you believe it was rude by your standards, all i can say is that wasn't my intent...

respect is earned not given. So... I don't get what your saying? as long as we earn each other's respect we're good?

Treating people respectfully is common decency. If a person starts out treating me without respect then I will not respect them or bother giving them the time of day.

So what I'm saying is, as long as we behave with common decency toward one another then of course we are good. Let's just say we are good now and hope to keep it that way in the future.

Lol... okay but just realize I will treat you with common decency but I may not respect you until you demonstrate that your worthy of respect ;)

I'm just kidding you earned it already through this thread :).

Lol, really? I thought I must just seem annoying in this thread...
Oh well, it's all good then :)

Violet.
it's important to remember that when speaking with people of other perspectives that you can't make the same assumptions of belief

Actually, you can't make ANY assumptions of belief.

it seems like the parties involved have made up, by now, and are all having tea and cookies together. but let's make it clear, if those who subscribe to a religious worldview would like respect, please extend that respect to those who have an irreligious worldview.

atheists are not your punching bag. intellectual debate is one thing, name calling and generalizations are entirely something else.

thank you in advance.

(and i'm not just talking to one person)

Look in the mirror and ask why are you here.

Just because. Same as every other life form. If there is some vast eternal plan no body knows it is. The evidence being no one can demonstrate one exists or what it entails.

We have made several hundred guesses. All wrong.

Absolute zero temperature of -273 degrees ceslsius.

We've never got within 0.00012 dehrees of the temperature. Therefore, we don't actually know that all matter ceases to move at that point. All we have is a very old graph.
isn't it just limits?
and is -273.15**** degrees celcius btw
just like Pi
and "e"
and G
etc
they are crazy numbers.
im pretty sure that using calculous you can calculate the limit for the least degree of temperature you could possibly ever get to...it would be an assemptote wouldn't it? based. and science is not a "believe" its a CONFESSING AGNOSTIC assumption. so its claims do not apply to proof that we shouldn't be believing the absolute truth value of certain claims.

Particles do slow down as they approach that temperature, their vibrations do become laboured. My point is since we havn't actually been to that temperature we don't actually know if they stop. We've assumed a linear relationship without proof.
i doubt it is a linear relationship. it has to have a certain, perhaps inverse square-root relationship, square-root relationship, hyperbolic, etc.
