Guns and shootings.. what has changed

We Never Know

No, that's because the brain doesn't fully mature until around 25. It's not people acting significantly different, it's just how our biology functions.

30-50 years ago people had jobs at 18, lived on their own, got married, bought a house, had a family, had a career, etc.
Today many kids don't leave home until their early/mid 20's, some later.

I had a job at 14 after school pumping gas, changing oil, fixing flats, etc at a service station.
My parents picked me up after work. I worked to save money to buy a car for when I was 16.

Today you all call that child slavery

People were more strict and sensible and reasonable about guns in the past. As I said, even the Supreme Court interpretation of the Second was more strict in the past.
Today people are just stupid about it, like Missouri Reps who okayed kids open carrying. That wouldn't have happened in the past. Adults didn't even open or conceal carry when we go back into the past.

"Missouri Reps who okayed kids open carrying"

So 17 years and 11 months is a kid but 30 days later they are a mature adult that can go to war?

Whose morality?

Whose ideas of right and wrong are you talking about?

I don't know anywhere that teaches this. This sounds like a complete fabrication. Clearly everyone can't be oppressed. There must be those who are oppressing others in there somewhere who themselves aren't oppressed. ;).

View attachment 71899

And there is zero teachings anywhere that I am aware of that says we deserve everything for free. Can you provide a single example to back up this wild claim of yours?

You believe that atheists acts like animals? Can you then explain this statistic?

The estimated number of inmates in the prison system was 1,574,700 people. Of these people, less than 1% (. 07%) of inmates identify as atheists.

Jailhouse Jesus - Wikipedia.

Well, if religion was doing such a good job, there wouldn't be a problem. Maybe quit point your finger at the secular world and wonder why nobody gets anything of use from the type of religion that you believe works?
If you have to ask what morality I'm talking about, you are part of the problem.
Everyone except white males are oppressed.. that's basic critical race theory... it's inherently racist.
Yes there's very few true atheists alive period, but their philosophy is widespread. Thier religion of evolution creating us is taught in every public school.

Kids on the street have what training to handle weapons, and learn mental and physical discipline?

Even on military bases the soldiers don't carry their weapons at all times, nor even have them in their living spaces. But on the streets, different attitude.

That's incorrect. How far back are you going? Because about every rural high school kid had a rifle in his back window 40 years ago.

Its illegal for kids to carry on the streets.
See...
Missouri Republicans vote 104-39 to reject open-carry amendment

When I was younger I could walk into a Walmart, Bass Pro, Cabela's, a pawn shops etc. and buy a gun and walk out as soon as it was rang up.

Today if I go to Walmart, Bass Pro, Cabela's, a pawn shops etc. and buy a gun I have to have my drivers license, fill out forms including SS#, criminal and mental history and then its all sent off to the feds with generally a day waiting period to see if I'm clear to purchase a gun.
And there are more laws

Its obvious guns aren't as easy to purchase now as they used to be but shooting are up.

What's changed besides the people/generations?
Maybe (and this is just wishful thinking on my part) more Americans are starting to realize that -- for some odd reason -- Americans shoot and kill each other (in the context of everyday life, not war) more than just about anywhere in the world. And then, maybe one or two of them with enough brain cells to rub together and create a spark realized that Americans also own more guns that pretty much everybody else.

And then if that spark actually turned to a real light, the fire of an idea, they linked those two facts together and said, "heck, we need to do something different here if we really care about life."

But don't worry, most Americans haven't got there yet, so you may face a little bureaucracy, but you can go and buy another thousand guns, if you can afford it.

I hope they bring you as much joy as you seem to feel they should.

I am going back centuries, and I know definitely not every rural high school student had a riffle, and I doubt rural Indiana was significantly different in that regard. Not even every male student, not even every farm boy.

I try to imagine the thought process of American gun-lovers (who usually claim to be pro-lifers as well) on the subject of gun ownership and gun control:

"Um, people are dying, but dang I love my guns...but wait, they just shot a whole bunch of school kids in Texas ... but I'd be naked with my guns!

Dead kids...guns...dead kids...guns...how to decide?

Well, dang it all, it's gotta be my guns!"

Do you even realize many/most mass shooters buy their guns a month, weeks or even days before they go on a shooting rampage?
They would not be gun lovers.

My point... Its not typically gun lovers that go out and commit mass shootings.

What does that have to do with anything?

It has to do with your thinking a 17 year and 11 months old person is a kid but 30 days later you think they are a mature adult.

What miraculous thing happens in those 30 days that transforms them from a irresponsible kid to a responsible adult?
