hands up if you think cars are disgusting things

It's cold where I am right now and the exhaust fumes of cars are clearly visible in the crisp winter's air

I've seen loads of cars, all releasing fumes into the atmosphere.... the same atmosphere that everyone has to breath in order to keep living

I think this is utterly disgusting, it is totally anti-social

The sooner petrol fuelled cars are replaced by electric ones the better and by "car" I mean all motor vehicles

I think cars as we know them today are disgusting

It is even worse than not cleaning up after your dog and more harmful than fly-tipping

Hands up if you think cars are disgusting and anti-social

I most certainly do

People love cars.
God knows why. ;)

In Rome or in London...there should be zero cars.
There is: taxi, subway, tramway, bus.
What do you need the car for?

In the 1980s an obnoxious Conservative politician said that if you don't have a car you're a loser

I don't understand how or why people love their inanimate insentient cars as they would an animal that has feelings and can love them back

I think a big bit of car adoration is that cars can serve as status symbols and even penis extensions

I live in a rural area and cars are a necessity here and in much of the US. The only place where they are not are in urban areas where public transportation is available.
Needing a car because of where you live is one thing

Fetishising them is another

The biggest reason I dislike cars is the roadkill and how that's viewed as acceptable. It sickens me that bloody, gory smashed animal corpses strewn on the road and sidewalk is accepted as normal. The callousness of modern society is disturbing. I feel the same about skyscrapers that birds fly into and break their necks.

I also hate how most American cities privilege cars over walking, biking and public transportation. It just leads to more accidents, more congestion and makes it far more difficult to get anywhere. I believe you shouldn't have to have a car if you live in a city.

Yes those lithium discarded batteries are going to make epically beautiful toxic mountain landfills someday.

A future sight to behold.

Yes

That is another reason to dislike them

What you see from the exhaust is mostly steam. Cars are limited to the amount of fumes they can emit. Have catalytic converters and are tested every year to ensure they are not emitting too much.

That said, we can do better, better is on the way, in fact it's already here at an extra cost.

Roadkill happens with trains, busses, and even airplanes (though not exactly road kill). And a bird can fly into any window, not just skyscrapers. I have had birds flying into a glass window at my house on the ground floor.

But yes, I do agree with you about the apathy most people have when hitting an animal. I remember I was driving to work one morning and the guy in front of me hit a dog and just kept on going like it didn't happen.

I dunno.

Independence, faster, can carry all your groceries, and no standing and waiting twiddling ones thumbs.

One can own a car.
The problem is that certain people don't realize that fuel costs much more than going by bus, by subway, or simply by bicycle.

They're disposed to pay more, because they think it's uncool to take the bus. :)
They forget that in Rome and in many Italian cities it's impossible to find a parking lot...so they're masochists...I dunno.

Especially when there are countless means of transportation.
Freud would have said many many many things about men and car. LOL

Someone hit my cat, and left a note on Nextdoor(a neighbor showed us); "sorry! I didn't have time to stop and help!"

The death of my feline friend was an accident, I could have forgiven it. I've tragically hit a squirrel; sometimes you can't avoid it. I couldn't forgive the attitude, though.

If I had hit her grandmother crossing the road, the same answer would not have been acceptable.

I know. But cities can lessen that by making walking, biking and public transit more accessable, which I already know they won't. The rich suburbanites hold the purse strings.

In Rome you spend one hour just to find a parking lot...and another hour if there are traffic jams.

In those two hours, I took the subway, went shopping, took the subway again and arrived home. :)

I've heard that there was a study that showed that there is a statistically significant relationship between having a smaller willy and a big car

I don't know if is true but it wouldn't surprise me

But it does always seems to be men who have ridiculously sized cars......

I'd ride my bike more but it's too dangerous to be hit by traffic.

They will never put in the proper infrastructure needed for safe alternative transportation.

I'd rather all the pollution be localised and contained than in the air I have to breath
