Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Please let us consider ways to make voting easier for country folk not having to take a long trek to town. As for voting by mail integrity concerns, perhaps we can agree a voter's driver's license number or last four of his/her social security number rather than the hassle of a voter submitting a copy of his/her photo identification should suffice in proving a mail-in voter's proof of identification
I lived in rural America when I was young. Rest assured, that long trek was as routine as the weekly trip to the store and the feed mill each week.

That's what fervent partisans always say.
Only the other side is the problem.
And bothsiderism helps perpetuate things like voter suppression.

Once again you fail to address the actual substance of the matter. The fact remains, Republicans are, and have been, implementing laws that are specifically designed to suppress Democrat votes. They even say so themselves. No sense in denying it.

And blindness to prejudice, bigotry, corruption, party
supremacy, & tribalism in one's party make matters
prevent cooperation & progress.
How do you propose we cooperate with a party that is openly and explicitly working to suppress Democrat votes?

Stop attributing your inferenced motives
to them, & discuss issues without hostility.
And of course, they must do the same.

I have low expectations.

Um....have you been paying attention? The GOP's motives with voter suppression aren't "inferenced", they're stated outright.....by people in the GOP and their lawyers.

So again, how do you compromise with people who are overtly trying to suppress the ability of your supporters to vote?

Um....have you been paying attention?
Yes.
I recommend it to you.

Still unwilling to see the other side as having
merit, eh. They have that problem too.
So again, how do you compromise with people who are overtly trying to suppress the ability of your supporters to vote?
This reminds me of the attitude Trump had towards
Iran. The old "you can't reason or compromise with
those people." And so he didn't.
I don't hear Democrats talking any compromise.
Time to start talking...& stop yelling.

What "other side" are you referring to? Be specific.

So all you have is "They should compromise", and when asked how they should do so, you just repeat "They should compromise".

Gee....how insightful.

The side you spoke of, ie, Republicans.

Gee....how obtuse.
Both sides should suspend the demonization,
posturing, & using hostilities for political gain.

So Democrats should "see the merit" in Republican efforts to keep Democrats from voting?

How is saying that Republicans are suppressing Democrat votes "demonizing" them, when Republicans admit it openly?

Security has merit.
The issue is finding the balance that both sides can agree too.
How is saying that Republicans are suppressing Democrat votes "demonizing" them, when Republicans admit it openly?
Because your posts paint only a picture of malevolence.
This attitude is the same thing I see on their side.

You need a more tolerant & open avatar....like mine.
It's why I've such equanimity.

Republicans specifically said and argued in court that their efforts were about suppressing Democrat votes. You keep forgetting that (or are deliberately ignoring it).

Because your posts paint only a picture of malevolence.
Sheesh dude, come on. Republicans are expressing their malevolence themselves. Are you even paying attention?

There are always excuses to never negotiate with the other side.
Your posts paints them as evil & not to be reasoned with.
It's the kind of thing Trump would do.
Stop being Trumpie.

Lol! So I guess you figure Democrats should just ignore what Republicans are saying about their voter suppression efforts and pretend they're operating in good faith.

Good thing you weren't advising folks during the civil rights era.

"Yeah I know they're saying they want y'all segregated and relegated to second class status, but you should ignore that and try and compromise!"

Your posts paints them as evil & not to be reasoned with.
What is wrong with you? You act like I'm the one saying Republicans are suppressing Democrat voters, when the reality is the Republicans are the ones saying it.

Wrongo pongo.
Listen to what they're saying with an open mind.
Work together.
What is wrong with you?
I often treat people as more reasonable than they later turn out to be.
But it's worth a try to give them the benefit of doubt.

"Yes Republicans are seeking to do you harm and deny you basic constitutional rights, but keep an open mind and work with them."

Neville Chamberlain would be proud
