Homosexuality & Religion

Jehovah our God is One
Completely separate from homosexuality

why?

hermaphrodites have physical biological evidence of having both sexes within them which explains why they are gay

Do homosexuals have evidence of a biological reason for being gay?

hermaphrodites have physical biological evidence of having both sexes within them...so what biological evidence is different in a homosexual person?

Homosexuals are physically what you'd call "normal." There's that for a start.

yes, i agree

which is why it is considered to be a 'choice' for them

Hermaphrodites do not have a choice in the matter because they are physically both sexes.

homosexuality is still an enigma...there is no conclusive or absolute explanation for the behavior yet, ie, no gene that is the 'gay gene' so its not easy to simply assume that its natural behavior

its natural for a man and woman to have sex...the evidence is seen both physically and mentally

but homosexuality does not produce children, its not a learned behavior passed on from ones parents...it doesnt benefit the individual in terms of evolution...so what is its purpose? This is why it is mostly believed to be a choice.

There are several explanations for homosexuality.

First, bisexuals often do reproduce with women so their genes can survive.

Second, genes are expressed differently in different environments. The gay gene may not have been expressed in the evolutionary past as it is now.

Third, it might be a mutation, or a radical genetic reaction to something in the environment.

See this video to hear the whole thing.

YouTube - Richard Dawkins explains how the gay gene was preserved

There are no conclusive answers to this specific question.

We know that there is some genetic component to homosexual behavior because homosexuals do not have the same emotional and hormonal reactions herteros do. Their brains are also different. It is unlikely that millions of Americans are choosing to dislike the opposite sex and mate with individuals they are supposedly not attracted to (same sex). This idea is preposterous.

The fact that homosexuals do not learn their behavior from their parents, are persecuted by society for their actions, and do not follow heterosexual urges points to the argument that homosexuality is genetic.

Any psychological and physiological study on hermaphrodites and the sexuality of such individuals is not directly applicable to homosexuals.

I don't know how you came to such a conclusion. You obviously missed the post where i asked you if you chose to be a heterosexual. If you didn't, what makes you think homosexuals choose to be gay?

Genes don't work that way. There will never be a single "gay gene".

Still, we have quite a bit of evidence showing a strong genetic component to sexuality, as well as (at least in men) a significant effect of pre-natal environment.

Does everything you do have a defined purpose?

How do you explain homosexual penguins in monogamous life-long relationships that adopt eggs to hatch?

As a Hindu I would say they were gay men in a past life who liked to dress up in tuxedos and were denied the right to raise children. So they had to be born penguins to full fill their desire. See what good parents they are. Being willing to endure winters in Antarctica just to have children. Lots stop the madness and just let them have kids. ;)

Homosexuality is the romantic and sexual love for a person of the same gender.

There is no definitive scientific explanation for its occurrence in both man and other animals. That it occurs is a scientific fact. Theories on a possible purpose vary greatly and two notable ones are the idea that homosexuals may act as 'spare parents' and the theory that homosexuals might naturally have a depolarizing effect on society. Both explanations fit in the context of social animal species, which also where this sort of thing occurs.

The issues people have with homosexuality are based on two things: culture and lack of empathic capacity. The first is simple, everyone knows of religious groups in their vicinity which have made a scapegoat out of homosexuals, or think about extreme-right groups like neo-nazi's. But the real problem is the culture that houses in the popular masses of a society. If intolerance slips in there, a minority really has a problem. The second (empathy) is an individual problem. Some people don't seem to be able to wrap their heads around someone doing with someone of the same gender. Of course, if you're 100% straight, imagining having sex with someone of the same gender is repulsive, and rightly so: you're not gay. But don't make the mistake of thinking we (homosexuals) don't feel the same about having sex with someone of the opposite gender.

You don't have to have sex or marry someone of the same gender if that isn't your cup of tea. But the least you could do is make an attempt at being a good human being and leave others be when they're just following their hearts... ...and not hurting anyone. People don't have to understand if they don't want to, but they do have to accept it as part of society - because that is what homosexuality is.

The whole gay culture can be explained, but I have to go to college now...

i think they choose it because some are happy to be married and have kids and some are bi sexual

some men experiment with it for a while then go back to being with females

People who experiment with homosexuality but are really straight are called CURIOUS.

IMO Homosexuality is not something we have control over.
The homosexuals who marry, have kids and are "happy" are probably
1) slightly bi
OR
2) in total denial, repressing their emotions.

Also many homosexual men experiment with women and they don't feel anything at all, thus the "homosexual" part.

So you're saying homosexuality doesn't exist, just bisexuality?

And another thing, ever heard of the spectrum of sexuality? It's a theory which argues there are no single forms of sexuality and the labels (gay, straight, bi) just apply to whatever a person feels most. Basically you have to see sexuality as a line (a spectrum) where on one end of the line people are 100% straight and on the other extreme end people are 100% gay. Most people would hover somewhere in between, explaining bi-curiousness and bisexuality as an intermediate, instead of a different, individual form of sexuality.

It paints a not-so-black-and-white version of sexuality.

Now some they do, and some they don’t, and some you just can’t tell.

Some they will, and some they won’t. With some it’s just as well

(You can laugh at my behaviour. That will never bother me. Say the devil is my saviour, but I don’t pay no heed.)

That is because those people are what we call bisexual. These are people who are attracted to both men and women. Homosexuals are only attracted to the same sex.

I have heard many homosexuals including Meow Mix, the homosexual in the video in post #147 talk about how they state that they really have no sexual attraction to women. You on the other hand who does not know anything about how it is like to be homosexual claim that they actually are heterosexual instinctively.

What is the purpose when two people who are biologically unable to have children fall in love with one another?

What is the purpose when two heterosexual people who fall in love with each other but choose not to have children or to adopt instead?

Why does people loving one another have to have a purpose other than that love is a beautiful thing and the world would be pretty ugly without it?

Do homosexuals have evidence of a biological reason for being gay?

Do you have a biological reason for being attracted to (fill in the blank with a characteristic of what you're attracted to)?

I have evidence that there's probably something biological going on simply by the fact that I had lesbian inclinations since as early as I could remember. When my friends first started talking about how cute boys were I didn't understand, because I thought my friends were cute. It was a long and painful process of hiding how I really felt and even dating a few boys to try to prove to others (and myself) that I was "normal."

It wasn't a choice, I didn't just think "Gee I think I'll become one of the most hated people by everyone around me in this redneck Missouri town and by many folks in general." Who on earth "chooses" that? How can you possibly think that people would choose that?
