How Bad Will It Get?

Trump made the border less secure while wasting billions of dollars, and time.
Inflation and the US economy, as usual, were handed to a Dem POTUS as the markets burned to ash, and that Dem saved us all. Any other outlook is impatient and short-sighted. Of course tRump will claim responsibility for Biden’s achievements not just in January, but even now. And his worshipper will think it’s true.
Facepalm all you want but inflation was 1.4% when Biden took office. Trump's economy prior to the pandemic was very healthy inflation was down, unemployment was down and historically so for black men, interest rates were low, etc. Biden did not do any of that so I am not sure what he is taking Biden's credit for.

Biden removed the remain in mexico policy in his first day that is the main reason there is chaos at the border and millions of immigrants in the country that we have no idea who they are.

What did Biden do to "save us all"?
You forgot the Clintons selling children as sex slaves and immortality cannibal food out of a pizza shop basement.
NOTHING that you listed is true. Wow! Just, wow.
These things you listed are not true. But everything else I listed is true, but when you listen to the media you don't get the truth.

Frankly, I'm sick of this, I'm sick of Trump, I'm sick of arguing about it. But for the record, inflation is now under 2.4%. I've added a graph, below, to show how COVID cases developed EVERY DAY in the US, during which time, literally millions of workers in bars, restaurants, hotels, theatres, recreation and entertainment, retail, transportation and more were simply unable to work -- and therefore unable to be paid. This happened around the world, and governments everywhere provided much-needed assistance to people who would otherwise have quickly exhausted savings (if they had any), and needed to pay rent, mortgages and for food. Trump's initial mis-handling of that pandemic was obvious to all, even though he didn't have to deal with it for as long as Biden did. Look at the graph.

According to the IMF, "Inflation measures how much more expensive a set of goods and services has become over a certain period, usually a year." That's the definition you just gave.
Do you know what "set of goods means"?
You ask this in response to my statement that "other people have kids, too. Some of them are gay, or trans, or otherwise "different," who are now in greater danger than they have been in decades. Some of them are girls who may one day make a mistake -- to her great cost." Really?

Do you know when it was perfectly okay to discriminate against gay people and toss them out of their apartments? Do you know when they were allowed (finally) to marry -- and how badly many "christians" want to take that right away? Do you know how trans kids suffer when they must spend every waking moment trying vainly to pretend they're not who they are -- and how they are so often taunted because they can't succeed, simply because they really ARE WHO THEY ARE?

Do you know how many women suffered serious health-care issues directly as a result of Dobbs?
US Obstetrician-Gynecologists' Perceived Impacts of Post–Dobbs v Jackson State Abortion Bans
Notice all of your statements are in the past. Why is Trump going to bring these dangers back?
I did not call Trump a Nazi, nor you garbage.
No, but the people you support did.

Seems as if instead of trusting the media people trust blogs

If by lack of accomplishment you mean that the war hawks's thirst for war was not satiated....you're 100% right.

None.
One failure was his campaign promise to end the Afghan war.
Instead, he continued it for 4 years. It took Biden to end it.
Your Trump is a warmonger too.

It was "set of goods and services," and yes, I do know what it means. Do you? And if you are going to measure a "set," it pays to notice if only some members of that set become more expensive while others stay the same, then the set itself is more expensive. And that's inflation.
Notice all of your statements are in the past. Why is Trump going to bring these dangers back?
Because I have no statistics about the future. Did you expect me to?

Because Trump will be appointing to high position cronies who have written Project 2025, and are determined that it shall be the law of the land. I'm aware you don't believe that, but you've fallen for so many of Trump's obvious lies, it surprises me not at all that you've fallen for that, too.
No, but the people you support did.
Tell me, if you can, what have the people you support called others? I mean, just to start with, Vance called Trump a Nazi -- until he saw a way for cozying up to power to gain some for himself. But can you remember all of the things that Trump has called literally hundreds of Americans? How he referred to one woman as "bleeding from her ... whatever" or,,,well, here's a little list you might find amusing about your "hero."

I was immature to but never did something so stupidly racist at a young age because I grew up with & around other children of every race, played with them , joined sports teams with them, and was working with them at college age.
I'd be willing to bet the audio of this ******* imitating the people he painted himself to look like would be much worse than the optics .

Did he apologize before anyone knew about it, or did he apologize only after he had been exposed ?
The answer to that question will tell you exactly what moral character he is made of .
Oh, he only apologized after he was exposed. Trump on the other hand was exposed and he never apologized for his actions.

What part of that is too hard to understand? Trump was asked recently if he was going to apologize to those people and he still said no. That was years after they were proven to be not guilty. They caught the guilty party using DNA and he confessed as well. He had not connection to those five men. They had confessions beaten out of them by the police. The state ended up paying them millions of dollars for their false conviction and time in prison. Meanwhile it seems that Trump still thinks that they should have been murdered. He is not a sane or moral person.

This has depressed me greatly.

One thing in particular has opened my eyes. It looks like Trump will win the Popular Vote as well as the Electoral College. Up to now i have been able to comfort myself with the idea that the majority of the country didn't support his ideas. Now I can no longer think that. He is supported (at least for now) by a majority. Another comforting thought has gone with it. That is that his supporters don't really want an authoritarian bully as a leader. They overlook that because they want the changes he promises, or believe that he's not really like that, it's all "fake news". Now I no longer believe that. After this election cycle, nobody has any genuine reason to see Trump other than how he is. Yet a majority still voted for him. I conclude that far from supporting him in spite of his nature, they do so because of it. That's what they want in a leader.

Trump is the wet dream of every misogynist and every xenophobic in the US: a man that represents their values and managed to become the republican candidate. Consider all this talk about the borders during the election. It is only a relevant point in a nation with a lot of xenophobes.

OK, my politics are admittedly far to the left of even the Democratic party. I've never pretended otherwise, and have continued to live here while realizing that I have no right to impose my views on Americans, and anyway, the convenient fictions I set out above have made me feel "it's really not as bad as it seems". My view of the future here has always suggested a continuation of the progressive change that I like. Now everything seems set for a massive regression to old ways. Now my problem is to reconstruct my mental attitude to it all. Ideally, I would return to England, as I'm still a citizen there. But the practical problems associated with that mean I would (will?) have to be very desperate to do so.

So what to do? I'm probably as safe here as most non native born people. By inauguration day if all goes well I will be a US citizen, so they won't be able to kick me out, hopefully. I'm white, retired with a comfortable income, and have a generally low profile. So, keep my head down and ignore what happens to others? But I do care, and feel very uncomfortable not trying to do something about it, politically. On the other hand I will be 84 in January, so perhaps I will die before things get too bad. Lots to think about.

84? Really?
I am amazed. I hope that if I ever get to 83 years old, I get to sound like you. For some reason, I thought you were in your fourties.

Trump has promised that, if reelected, his administration will rescind federal policies that prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, and will assert that federal civil rights laws don’t cover anti-LGBTQ discrimination. In addition to rolling back existing protections, a second Trump administration will proactively mandate discrimination by the federal government wherever it can.

Yes, but what is the set the US uses to determine inflation number? This is what I am talking about.

No, I was not talking about statistics.

Ok, you have fallen for this lie.

Ok, is this your justification for the left calling us garbage and nazis? I don't like it when Trump does that.

Where did he promise this?

life improving for who?
Anybody who's struggling to pay for groceries who's struggling to pay for the roof over their heads and struggling to even try to save up for a nest egg, if at all.

Given the popular vote for Trump , it's not too hard to figure how many people now are in that situation.

Well we know the result of that. Women are now going to be stoned. Countless equipment just handed right over to the Terrorist regime called the Taliban. How do you like Biden's policies? Think the war has really ended with them?

Stop blaming me for the names other people might have called you. Blame me when I do it, and not before.

And by the way, Vance deliberately and loudly called Harris "Garbage" in his closing speech.
