How can someone be a male and be a feminist at the same time?

For one, I acknowledge women as having equal rights, prochoice, and whatever else it is that women feel they are being neglected of, but how can a male or guy consider themselves to be a feminist when feminism is explicitly dealing with women and women’s rights?

Much the same way I'm an abolitionist, though I'm not a slave.

I don’t see how a man, male, guy, etc. can be considered a feminist when it deals specifically with women and the choices they make; as in a guy claiming to be a feminist. What would a feminist male (as hyperbolic as that may seem) have to do with women rights?

Easy:
1) Be born Male and/or just own a Penis.
2) Become a Feminist.
3) ..........
4) PROFIT.

How are you a slave?

How do you relate you own personal circumstances to women slaves in America?

Otherwise how are women salves in other countries? Besides being treated like trash, scum of the earth?

Let me just go ahead and spell out my argument cogently.

First, let me qualify my words; by feminism, I mean: "The advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men." (Google's definition) By feminist I mean "A person who supports feminism." (Google's definition)

Now my argument follows as such... it's really simply:

Premise: A feminist is "a person who supports" "the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men."

Premise: A male is "a person who" can "support" "the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men."

Conclusion: A male can be a feminist.

Profit amounts to nothing!
Just because you are born a male doesn't mean you are born with more rights than a female.

To be honest, Women globally are trodden under in comparison to men (in terms of rights). So if a "Feminist" is simply someone who supports Equality and improving the rights of Women to the same standard as Men, then I honestly don't see how a Man couldn't become one.

A feminist is much more than someone who supports equal rights.

A man is a man. That doesn't mean they do not support equal rights. It just means a man isn't capable of recognizing a women deserves equal rights.

It looks like me and you have conflicting definitions on the concept of Feminism. To me it is simply someone who supports equal rights. I've found similar definition problems with other labels, such as Liberal/Conservative or Zionist etc. There isn't much else to say really: yes some men reject concepts like Equality, but I'd say Male Feminists obviously embrace Equality instead. :)

I agree, but that doesn't mean such males are feminist. Unless they protest and sponsor government rallies. To end inequality to women's rights.

I can agree with you on that: I guess there are two types: Active Feminist and Inactive Feminist. The Active ones go out and protest/sponsor, whilst the Inactive ones don't.... however they still believe in the cause of Equality.

I admit in this case I am an Inactive one.

Feminine is a gender. A feminist is a belief to that gender. How do males get categorized into that belief?
A feminist holds the belief that advocates rights for women. Both men and women can hold a belief and both can advocate rights for women.

Female is a gender. Feminine describes a gender.

I pretty much said the exact opposite of "I am a slave."

Ever feel like the lights are on, but no one is home? What's it take to not be ignored in this thread or have one's posts completely misunderstood?
