WONDERFULL ATTITUDE, ,SOUNDS PRETTY MUCH like what deeje is describing from the bible !
I agree , all l personally ask is, if these people dont agree, fine, i have no problem with disagreement, but unfortunately i have had to put a few folks on IGNORE, they chose to use slander and personal attack and would not stop. I will discuss any bible topic, Just keep it civil, i will do the same. Sometimes though when dicussing the bible , people take it personal if the bible exposes a wrong atitude, or behavior, its NOT THEM, its their theology i disagree with most of the time, i dont hate them, nor am angry, but i will vigorously defend my faith when some one makes a slanderous remark. Many do this i think without realizing how they sound, i have done this myself a few times, i am a work in progress, but i am trying, if i told you some of my background, you might understand. But there are some very nice people on here, who i just happen to disagree with, but all the same i respect them for being able to carry on a vigorus discussion without being nasty, its a pleasure to talk to some of them !It's NO ONE'S business how or who we worship.
HOWEVER this is a discussion forum open to all members to DISCUSS
ideology.
I CHOSE to discuss ideology and am very interesting in the ideology of others with
ALL respect to those who's ideology differ from mine.
As long as no one is eating babies or killing nuns I'd like to read opinion.
I happen to be still searching for meaning, & spirituality, human qualities I admire.
I absolutely love (agape) many contributors on this fantastic site.
Get that revoltingest?
THATS FUNNY RIGHT THERE, I DONT CARE WHO YOU ARE !....LOL !True worship is characterized by closed eyes and hands raised in the air, ecstatic look on face. Nonsense babbling is optional.
Are you without anything false? Those who wish to practice true worship will reject all that is false
True worship depends on the individual. Everyone has their own way of worshiping that is true to them, their beliefs, and god.
True worship is anything that is done in sincere devotion by the worshiper.
And this is a very good point. What is "true" to one person as acceptable worship is "false" to another. So what is the purpose of worship in the first place?
If it is an inherent trait in humans to worship (something or someone) what do they expect to gain as a result of it? Since we are also incentive oriented by nature, what is the incentive for our worship?
Is there one true God?...or a multiplicity of gods?
Is there one way to worship acceptably?...or do "all roads lead to Rome"?
By what criteria do we scrutinize who we worship and the way we worship?
Do we worship for the benefit it purports to bring to ourselves?...or do we really want to please the deity(s) we give our worship to?
Wow...that was unexpected. Thanks.Ok....here goes (takes a deep breath)..I agree with Deeje on this one.
Wow...that was unexpected. Thanks.
So taking this a little further....what does God do about this situation? If there is one true God (as Jesus taught. John 17:3) and there is one true way to worship him, how does he let people know?
If 2 Thess 2:9-12 is true, then how do you discern whether or not you have swallowed a delusion that God is allowing you to keep?
I love that emoji!
But seriously. Now you are asking questions in a way I can relate to. In fact , questions that I still ask myself everyday. And no doubt will continue to do so.
The governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses is for showing the way. No?
I don't believe that I am in a deluded state. If I was deluded I would be convinced that I was correct in all my opinions. On the contrary I consider myself very much a work in progress.
I am curious though. I know you are a Jehovah's witness. I have no problem with that in itself. Why so reluctant to just come out and say it?
Or arn't? YOU know you aren't deluded. Don't you? You certainly talk as though you know exactly how everything is really.
Delusion is a funny thing.....no one knows that they are.
Delusion is a person's reality.
I believe that we are all a work in progress. Imperfection is not something we can overcome in this world. But I understand what Jesus meant when he said we would "know the truth" and that it would "set us free". My sister and I were raised in the Church of England (as the Anglican Church was known back then) and I can tell you now that there was no truth to be found in that institution. The hypocrisy of that place drove us out of it. I went searching for the true religion, as did my sister, and we independently investigated other denominations and faiths. But unbeknownst to either of us, we both came to the same conclusion. We independently began to study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and had all our questions answered from the Bible. Neither of us was game to tell the other that we were associating with JW's....but it just came out and we couldn't believe it.
Not reluctant at all. I just don't like painting a target on my back. I have been in enough shooting galleries to just post my views and allow the responses to come as they will. I don't have to respond to the target shooters.
Also, if you go around insulting other people by telling them their beliefs are corrupt, a lie from Satan, "the world" is evil and is controlled by Satan, they're delusional, they're not God's children because they're not part of some small cult, the end of the world is coming soon and they're on the side of evil, etc. you're going to get negative reactions from people. That's anti-social behavior and anti-social behavior has negative social consequences. It also creates a self-fulfilling prophecy in that such people already believe that they are "persecuted by the world" and then their anti-social, nasty behavior causes people to dislike them, which only reinforces their already held presumption. Unfortunate that they cannot think clearly enough to see it from a more objective point of view.I can respect that. But...any strong religious opinion will always be someone's target, whether your Baptist ,Mormon or Jehovah's witness etc.
