My own Words:
I can say, without the influence of other arguments, from Catholics and Protestants alike, that I believe God exists. Why? Because in the end, we all need something we can put our hope in, and that something should be reliable and trustworthy (and the 20 arguments should be more than enough to convince anyone).
I personally don't find any other religions sufficient and or appealing. Why do I not reject the Resurrection, when there seem to be so many good points made against it? Because I have a hope, that I will live forever with Christ, and have others (from this thread hopefully) to live with me in eternity there. And I know, there are just as many people who can make a solid case for what I believe, as there are people against it.
There is a tension, one that I've never felt before. My pride has told me that I could never be wrong, corrected or refuted. I was on a winning spree, defeating opponent after opponent and thought it would continued here.
I have always been selfish in this area, using my faith as a means to appear to be more intelligent than I actually am, and never actually worked on myself in a way that would be pleasing to God, or His children. I was not prepared for this barrage of questions, nor the astounding amount of intelligent people I would meet on this thread.
Take this as a confession if you will. This is not a resignation, nor a concession of my beliefs but a realization that I needed to help me over come my pride and prejudice against non-believers. And so, I say thank you to all of you, for being who you are, in your own special way. I will make no argument in this post, nor will I try to convince you of what I believe, but commend you on your efforts. I only ask, that as I have taken your points to heart, that you do the same with mine.
These arguments may not come from me specifically, but it only matters that they come from my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. That is all that matters, is that there are some people out there, who are more articulate than me in explaining and defending my faith. I hope to be one of them someday. May God bless you all, regardless of what you do or don't believe.
