How did Satan get to the garden of Eden?

Most of Genesis, Chapters One and Two in particular, is inconvenient.

As you noted, the details in the literal are not believable.
So...
The serpent would be something other than a snake.
The term serpent wold then lean to a character trait rather than physical.

The action of the 'serpent', indicates a contrariness to God.
Hence the notion, it was Satan is disguise.

As for the notion..... it's all fiction?...nay.

Someone had to be first to walk with God....that would be Adam.
That an Adversary would seek some means to undo such a relationship...
is believable.

satan is not mentioned in this narrative, a crafty snake/serpent was and snakes don't talk...
connect the real dots in the real world. you know this to be true.

a talking snake is fiction

You can't seem to get the image out of your mind.
It's a metaphor.
A description of character.

A practice btw, that carried through, even to the dialog of the Carpenter,
as He dealt with the pharisees.

yet they didnt write in adversary at all, nor imply it in a metaphor.

your putting literal translation to a metaphor ruining the original message that you should follow god's commandments over your own bright ideas

And as such it has no meaning?...no moral value?

it doesnt have to be real, it can be myth and carry all the moral value it was written with. it can still have all the meaning.

you just butcher it with your own version that makes sense to you. Yet you were not the author and it was written ion a context you dont understand

I don't think of Genesis as literal text.
I do think of it as a description of God and Man, as an event.

The event was real enough.
If not then God and Man have met where?...and when?

Adam would be that first event.
Someone had to be first.....literally.
That Genesis is the story told as metaphor doesn't bother me.
That some of the items have indication of real action....
doesn't bother me at all.

Doesn't matter if we understand the context or not. The story can still have a meaning, it can still mean something to the people reading it.

And really, you butcher it just as much with your own version that makes sense to you. Really, you butcher it by focusing on it just as a myth, as tale written by an author, while ignoring what it means.

The serpent may not be Satan, but he is still some sort of adversary. Why? Because he is going directly against what God wanted. And for that, it is cursed.

FACEPALM

Adam would be that first event.

No

You dont understand teh history at all of the people of Israel

they migrated from all over the area and slowly began setting up villages all over the levant, they all brought in their own deities and were polytheistic until 622 BC did they start to become monotheistic to yahweh.

Adam and eve IS a legend told in allegory using metaphors and parables.

Ah but we do. maybe you dont

The story can still have a meaning, it can still mean something to the people reading it

And I never stated differently [insert facepalm here]

And really, you butcher it just as much with your own version that makes sense to you.

facepalm again, I have never given my full version for you to make such a incorrect ASsumption

you butcher it by focusing on it just as a myth

it is a myth, but im not focusing on that at all. thats not what this thread is about before you went off topic.

as tale written by an author

You mean multiple authors, and multiple compilations and redactions, after using a Mesopotamian legend to begin with.

while ignoring what it means.

Your just being useless at this point

if you spent as much time critiquing youself as you do others, you would get the respect you deserve. Dont let your ego write checks you cant cash.

Im trying to get another member here to view the writings more in line with how it was written, then a christian version based on a literalish reading. I have never ignored the original context and have preached the beauty of its original contents.

The serpent may not be Satan,

you were fine there without all the other dribble

but he is still some sort of adversary

No, false

Not a advasary except if one stretches imagination. AND not in the context of the advasary as in ha-satan

plenty of people do not follow what god states yet they are not advasaries

Because he is going directly against what God wanted. And for that, it is cursed

God punished him, as he plays magic sky daddy with all people and punishes them at will for mistakes far less then the snake.

That's true .. but many are .. and you, imo, are one of them!

This account in Genesis that gives insight into why God has ordained this worldly life for us, is very important ... you are acting in the same way as the serpent/satan, in claiming that it's "just a myth" etc.
