How does one choose?

Thankyou .. I'm flattered that you have so much confidence in my opinion :)

I probably come across as a 'bit of a know it all' .. as did my father..
However, the beliefs of my father and I couldn't be further apart!

Noone knows it all, but I'm sincere in what I do believe, but have much to learn

and i respect that. i do. which is why i ask questions.
:)

I hear people say that they don't need God to be moral.

My question then is how is a person to choose?

I suppose that a position could be taken that everything is moral. Then murder and rape and beastiality and torture are all fine and dandy.

One could look at things logically. For instance Jezebel had a logical solution for Ahab's desire for a man's land. Simply kill the man and take his land.

Can a person rely on laws or traditions?

There once was a law that stores couldn't open on Sunday now there is no such law. Evidently laws change according to what people wish them to be. It used to be that holidays were celebrated on the traditional day but now holidays are often selebrated on a convenient monday. Evidently traditions change as well.

I will base my answer on the Bible. I see no other manuscripts that can explain all human predicaments and provide answers to them in the way the Bible does.
For me morality is that which is defined in the Bible. If there is something / principle that is contrary to what the Bible is saying then it is wrong, no matter how appealing and rationale it may appear.

Man wanted to be like God and fell in Eden becuase he just couldn't. The standards that men set always run contrary to what God requires. If there is something contrary to the Bible remember that it is not of God and should not be chosen.

Oh your god, now I expect you to argue that slaughtering millions of people is moral. Thanks.

If the Bible were the answer, then God wouldn't have needed to send Jesus and the Paraclete.

On the surface that sounds good but multiple wives, slavery and divorce are in the Bible but not God's will.

That is an interesting speculation but the evidence is not there to support it. The evidence does suggest that Eve bought at least one of the lies she was told.

That would be difficult to substantiate. God influences peoples decisions without their knowledge as does the devil also.
