How Dumb Cops Create Danger

The tree-trimmers who do my street every few years come fully armed, with special cranes with safety buckets, a ground crew, and a chipping machine to get rid of the severed parts (shades of Fargo the movie). I guess there are less safe ways and more safe ways of trimming big trees.

Aside from accidents, it takes a toll on one's body.
It's happened to tree workers I know. By 50, they're
ready for pasture. Yet cops can be horribly overweight
incompetent, & out of shape, and still remain on the
job with ease.

I have no argument with your "no immunity" proposition. But they do a job I don't want to do, and parts of that job are important, and however rarely, sometimes heroic. Credit where credit is due, just as discredit where discredit is due.

It is an important job.
So the hiring & training standards should be far
higher. The job should be a highly paid profession.
Not a place for bullies & ne'er-do-wells.

Yareni Rios was in the cop car they left
on train tracks in front of a locomotive
barreling down upon her got $8,500,000
back in June. At least one more suit is
pending.
3 cops got fired. A couple cops were
charged with reckless endangerment,
but were sentenced only to probation.
No prison time for any of them.
