How many gods then?!!

I can't imagine how one would debate the number of Gods. What do we do, quote each other's scriptures at each other until we're blue in the face?
Basically.

Why are there 22 gods? Because I said so. My holy book Catch 22 agrees. Catch 22 is an all powerful catch. It is symbolic for 22 all powerful gods

Anybody who disagrees is a heretical communist, and you don't want to be a heretical communist do you? So agree lest I burn you at the stake.

Aside from Sonics' "Atheist Don't Exist" thread, this gets my second vote for "Most Pointless Thread Ever".

I ask why people believe in alot of Gods in this very small earth?
Is that mean that there are millions of Gods here and in other planets? How can he convince us by that?

For me it is an important debate.

Why do they have to be on Earth?
Earth is not a particularly interesting place to being with. If I were the god of fire, I'd probably be in the biggest star I could find.

I respect your view,
Everyone think that his religion is the best...

We need to search for the truth..

What does the size of the Earth have to do with the potential of the human imagination?

Is that mean that there are millions of Gods here and in other planets?

I'm sure there are. Besides the possible political benefits of espousing a belief in one God, intelligent beings on other planets have no reason to adhere to any of our Earthly monotheisms, let alone Christianity or Islam.

How can he convince us by that?

You mean, of that? You can't.
Convince me that one God makes more sense than having multiple Gods.

I was being satirical. This debate is moot. Neither side will budge on this issue. You say one god, the other guy may say 2,3 or maybe 33 million gods (Does Hinduism really have that many gods?)

Our earth age is thousands of millions of years...

Why any other object from space didn't finish the life of Earth?

Why the motivation in space is wonderfl?

I believe so. A variety of sages throughout the history of India have referenced this number as the standard for the number of distinct immortal beings in Heaven (and Hell) as well, though the number is disputed depending on what you consider to be a God.

A religious scholar recently researched this and found that this is true, but some Gods are serious (Vishnu, the protector; Shiva, the destroyer) while others are on the fun side such as Varuni, the Goddess of Wine.

For example, if you have Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva, who combine to form Dattatreya, is it a separate God, especially if its a temporary fusion?

Plus, "Hinduism" doesn't truly exist because it isn't one religion, but a collection of religions under an umbrella title given by the British because they couldn't understand how so many sects co-existed peacefully (Vaishnavites, Vishnu worshipers; Shaivites, Shiva worshipers, who then in turn have incarnations of their God that others might not accept or care about, etc.)

If that translates into "billions", you would be correct.

Why any other object from space didn't finish the life of Earth?

The one that destroyed the dinosaurs almost did. Thank the Gods for sexual reproduction and genetic mutation and distinction.

Why the motivation in space is wonderfl?

I don't know what this means.

If you must ask this question I must ask your definition of g-o-d-s.
My definition of G-o-d is life. The whole universe is alive. If a star explodes it becomes something else and life goes on.
The earth is indeed a small dot in the photo you posted but it is less than a grain of sand in just the known universe.
Human beings are the only creature (being created) that are conscience of God (if anyone denies that prove it). Mankind knows this power exists and has learned more and more about it. Men in their foolishness have tried to make their own gods. This mostly to show their own self importance. Man acknowledged the miracle of life and worshiped different aspects of it as their survival depended on it. When the rain did not fall they sacrificed to the rain god still thinking they were significant enough that the gods had time deal with their problems. After all it was someones job to bring the sun up in the morning.
We know what will happen to our bodies soon but some believe there is more to man than just a body and that their consciousness will go on. Men have devised rituals they think will be pleasing to God to insure a good position after death. Fear of death is only natural for man.
This planet would be very insignificant if not for the abundant life.
There is only one source of life, and light. There are many sources of consciousness.
Mankind thinks he is special because he is.

Mo I'm afraid your posts aren't making much sense. And you have yet to explain why haveing more than one God could be less plausible than having only one god. To answer the question of how many Gods are there well it depends on your definition of God. My personal belief is that there is an infinite number of Gods with an infinite number of forces above them. Perhaps the confusion comes from the idea if there is more than one God how would you know which one to follow? Well at least in my faith you choose which God you follow just like you choose what college to go to. But still why do you feel it is so impossible for there to be more than one god?
