How many gods then?!!

~Amin~

God is the King
If there can be any gods, why can't there be more than one?
3 basic reasons,
1. Over 4 billion people follow or believe in either the Old Testament ,
New testament, or the Last Testament, and it clearly shows the oneness
of God.
2.Every person has a unique finger print, unique DNA, unique retina,
unique scent, the earth and planets float in a perfect orbit,
all this clearly show One Super Power Creator.
3.When i never knew God, and i was in TROUBLE i always said
Oh My Lord please save me, i never said Gods, you can even try
or see with your own self.

Perhaps the confusion comes from the idea if there is more than one God how would you know which one to follow? Well at least in my faith you choose which God you follow just like you choose what college to go to. But still why do you feel it is so impossible for there to be more than one god?

We live here on earth according to specified rules..

The cat here is the same in Egypt..

Tell me... Where are these Gods? Where are these Gods?

they can't do anything... They can't prevent me from die.

and because of their infirmity.. they are not gods.

Science is my proof. Do you want me to post articles?

I respect science so much..

but It is a theory... there is a difference between theory and science.

Wikipedia:
Extinction theories

Main article: Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event
The sudden mass extinction of non-avian dinosaurs, an event that occurred approximately 65 million years ago, is one of the most intriguing mysteries in paleontology. Many other groups of animals also became extinct at this time, including ammonites (nautilus-like mollusks), mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, pterosaurs, herbivorous turtles and crocodiles, most birds, and many groups of mammals.[54] The nature of the event that caused this mass extinction has been extensively studied since the 1970s; at present, several related theories are supported by paleontologists. Though the general consensus is that an impact event was the primary cause of dinosaur extinction, some scientists cite other possible causes, or support the idea that a confluence of several factors was responsible for the sudden disappearance of dinosaurs from the fossil record.

Well can't I simply say the same to you? Where is your god?

he can't do anything and can't prevent you from dying either.

so he is no god then just like all the other false gods you put down...

But seriously though, that isn't much of a valid debate if that's all you can come up with, because anyone can come along and say the same to your god allah. No holy book refutes the existence of gods, it is just a book afterall and can't prove anything on its own. That your god would have to do himself. So Islamic tradition believes in one god and they have a prophet and holy book that says so, so what? Certainly this doesn't constitute some kind of Ultimate Truth. It may be Truth to you, and to those who follow your religion, but to others "Truth" will be something different. To every religion or spiritual way of life Truth means something unique and different. It's because we as human beings are all so unique and different.

Not trying to knock around your faith but I personally believe spiritual matters should not be so one-sided, they should be investigated as to what fits the person best, and then left up to him or her to decide what is right for them to believe in. If everything were so one-sided how could anyone find any trace of Truth? It would all be based on what a certain person or group of people wants you to believe, or your family and culture wants for you to believe.

This shows that a large number of people believe in the various Testaments. This does not show the oneness of God in the slightest.
2.Every person has a unique finger print, unique DNA, unique retina,
unique scent, the earth and planets float in a perfect orbit,
all this clearly show One Super Power Creator.
I can't glean any sort of reasoning that leads to this conclusion

:sarcastic

Why must there be multiple gods? Because the world is so @#$%&% up it has to have been made by a committee

That's not even one reason; nothing on that list provides even the slightest evidence that there is a god, one god, or many gods.

Are you asking how many Gods there are?
I suppose there are hundreds of millions if we consider all the polytheist religions today. Hinduism alone has 33 million Gods in total.

I just wanted to clarify for our good friend that although we believe in all these demigods, they are all manifestations of one God, just like how we are all manifestations of one God. :) However, these are our beliefs. I know that there are religions that believe in more than one God. They are entitled to their opinions. They are also my brothers and sisters in spirit. As long as there is love being shared amongst humanity, our Creator is pleased. :)

so might equals right? i don't think so.

that says nothing about the qualities of the creator, only that the creator is more powerful than we are... it does not clearly show benevolence, omnipotence etc. are these not qualities normally used to describe the One True God?

wow, you've been socialized in a majority monotheistic culture... so what?

So in Hinduism can a person worship the one ultimate God, or must they worship him in his various forms?

Ahhh, that is the beauty of hindusim. It is all up to you. Whatever you find better. Worship is easier in hinduism, no religion can top that. No-one knows the ultimate god. She/she is formless, voiceless and everythingless. But it is there, everywhere. It is in that light, in that tree, in that rock. It is everyhere. You make your picture of god and love it and cherish it. For in the end it reaches one ultimate truth, god. Those different gods can also represent different religions. Allah and jesus, to me are the same, as well as Vishnu and Shiv. That is what i love about hinuism. Its personal. ANd public. Whatever suits you.

sorry for my mistake, but the point still stands... being socialised into using the word "God" as an expletive instead of the plural of "Gods" as an expletive does not constitute an argument for monotheism.

i edited my above post to reflect my mistake.

Well said. It's a shame our belief system is so easily attacked because of the tolerance that is inbred into the system.
