How often do theists believe they have evidence for God's existence?

..The idea that existence was "created", "meant to be" is simply not at all apparent in, well, anything..

So the big question for all of us is whether this typical atom (and every other atom in the universe)-
1- Suddenly blinked into existence in the void out of nowhere?
2- Or did somebody create it?
3- Or has it ALWAYS existed?
4- Or is it an illusion and doesn't exist?

(have I missed out any other possibilities?)

Not necessarily a big question, but ok...

1- Suddenly blinked into existence in the void out of nowhere?

Who truly knows? Maybe it did.

2- Or did somebody create it?

Always a possibility, I suppose, although I very much doubt it.

3- Or has it ALWAYS existed?

Probably not as such. Atoms are, after all, formed of subatomic particles.

4- Or is it an illusion and doesn't exist?

Who can tell?

(have I missed out any other possibilities?)

None occur offhand, except for some composite hypothesis such as solipsism.

Incidentally when winding up one of his 'Sky at Night' TV astronomy programmes, Sir Patrick Moore said "People sometimes ask me what I make of the universes existence, and I reply 'Does it exist'? Goodnight"

He never elaborated in subsequent programmes, but my respect for him went up a few notches because until then I'd always thought he was just another astronomer, so I was impressed with his ability to think outside the box..:)

Unfounded?...did you say?

Then...let's go back to the beginning.....try to keep up this time.....

Substance first?.....of Spirit?

This tactic was irrational the first time you used it. At this point, it's just irrational and tired.

I have sometimes seem people (most recently, it seems to have happened fairly often among Muslims) suggesting that us atheists would have a choice to believe in God if we made an attempt, or sought evidence, something like that. I'm not really very sure what they mean.
well... I don't understand why they care whether a person believes in God or not. Maybe they think that convincing people to believe would increase their faith, I don't know.

How often do theists believe or assume that atheism is a choice, I wonder?
Atheism is a choice that must be respected like all the choices which don't harm others. Atheism doesn't harm anybody, so it must be respected.

Is it at all usual for theists to believe that atheism is changeable?
I've never thought, actually, that Atheists are Atheists just temporarily

What do theists usually believe to cause atheism?
Freedom of thought, reasoning, logic, personal autonomy...I could go on for hours

Can't decide?
It's one or the other.....
You either see Spirit first.....or substance.

I suspect you refrain as you can see the pending direction of thought.

No, it really is both: irrational and tired.

I see it just fine: "it looks like the universe had a beginning, therefore before the beginning of the universe, there must have been brainless minds." That's what you're saying, isn't it?
