How should the Christian Church treat homosexuals?

Research tends to disagree with you

"Research suggests that the homosexual orientation is in place very early in the life cycle, possibly even before birth. It is found in about ten percent of the population, a figure which is surprisingly constant across cultures, irrespective of the different moral values and standards of a particular culture."

Your problem is obviously in giving more weight to research than the quantity of people standing on top of buildings yelling things.

In summary: people standing on top of buildings yelling things > scientific research

Now you know.

But you could be gay? You have the ability to change your sexual attraction? Not whether you want to or not, do you have the ability?

Tell me, why would I choose to be something that could get me beaten to death, fired, evicted and generally discriminated against?
Well, they do have pretty cool parades...

of course it is a choice, a man can chose to abstain from sex until he gets married or find te right person or for life, a gay man can chose to abstain from sex and by the power of God he could change for ever...

homosexuality is a choice....:)

did you choose to be attracted to the opposite sex?
if so, you're probably bisexual...

If the gay person is living in a gay relationship and has no intention of changing that relationship yes I would turn them away from my church, I would talk to them in private, even do a bible study, if they clearly would not change after that I would let them be...
Without ever telling them about God. Oh, sure, you'll give them the "you're gonna fry, you filthy pervert" sermon, but you won't be bothered to tell them about God's loving grace, His forgiveness, or His infinite glory for which none of us are worthy?

Of course, I suppose it would be pretty awkward to bring up those things after the "fry, you pervert" bit.

In this world and these ages, it always pays to have an open mind. Whether being gay is a sin or not, I never say since I really don't know (I don't tend to think about things like that, which can either be good or bad), but I am not going to condemn a whole group of people on my own personal beliefs anyway. And I am not God and I am not going to act as if I am. I think we would be wise to just worry about those things that effect us and not worry about what doesn't. (rant, rant, rant)
