How the Poor and Working Class Can Finally Break the Democratic Party.

The poor and working class don't owe the Democrats loyalty. The Democrats seem more interested in cultural issues than in the poor and working class. The only reason they vote Democratic is because under the Republicans things would be worse for them. It's like voting for the parent who neglects you over the parent who will abuse you in a custody battle. It's sad and unjust.

Liberal Democrats really don't like the poor or working class. They look down on the working class who they believe are uneducated because most of the poor and working class do not have a higher education. They think the poor and the working class are a distasteful nuisance that they would rather not be bothered with because the poor and working are low class scum to the liberal elites. The would rather focus on cultural and identity issues and just give lip service and false promises to the poor and working class to get their votes while doing nothing for them and instead choose to focus on cultural and identity issues.

Over and over again in every election cycle it is a choice between being neglected by the Democrats or being abused and neglected by the Republicans. We traditionally vote for the lesser of two evils like it is someting normal - like something we deserve. But things can change.

How? Voter's Unions. Threaten to vote in blocs. The creation of nonpartisan community based and lead voter's unions focus solely on economic issues would crush the Democrats and their hypocrisy. People engaged in identity politics already understand the power of collective action and voting as a bloc to achieve specific goals. The principle behind a Voter's Union isn't new; it's about applying the same strategy more broadly to include the economic and social issues that affect the poor and working class. This way we turn the tables against them and take the spotlight for the worker! No longer will we be ignored, no longer will we accept their crumbs, no longer will we sacrifice our economic well being for the sake of others who look down upon us. It's time that our issues get addressed. Issues that have been long been neglected. Issues such as:

1. Affordable Housing: We're drowning in high rents and ****ty living conditions.
2. Healthcare Access: We’re buried under medical bills and lack decent insurance.
3, Wages and Job Security: We’re working our asses off for peanuts and can’t even rely on our jobs.
4. Education: Our kids are stuck in crappy schools while we’re buried in student debt.
5. Transportation: Public transit is a joke and getting to work costs a fortune.
6. Food Security: We’re struggling to put healthy food on the table.
7. Utilities: The costs of keeping the lights on and staying warm are sky-high.
8. Childcare: Finding affordable, quality childcare feels like a goddamn miracle.
9. Social Services: Unemployment benefits and disability support are a cruel joke.
10. Debt Relief: We’re suffocating under personal debt and being preyed upon by lenders.
11. Workplace Rights: Our jobs are unsafe, we get no paid leave, and unions are a distant dream.
12. Crime and Safety: We’re exposed to crime with nothing but empty promises of protection.
13. Mental Health Services: Affordable mental health care is practically nonexistent.
15. Environmental Issues: Pollution and unsafe living conditions are a daily reality.
16. Legal Aid: We can’t afford legal help when we need it most.
17. Economic Inequality: The wealth gap is growing while we get left further behind.
18. Public Safety: We deal with police violence and inadequate emergency services.

We keep them focus on our needs and don't let them get distracted on issues that csn't feed us. Will keep a political scorecard like the NRA does to show how politicians align with our concerns. It might even make republicans align more closely to us in order to win our votes. We will be a nonpartisan voter's Union. It constitutes a threat to the Democratic status quo. We need to stop their neglect and lip service and force them to work for us - the worker.

Most all of the problems you list are due to the compromises democrats have to make with republicans. And liberals don't hate the poor and middle class. Give democrats some credit for getting some of the list resolved. The USA needs a lot of reform. Who stands in the way of progress? Republicans.

The Democratic party used to address the listed needs. It used to be known as the Workers' party, as opposed to the Republicans who were the party of Big Business. But as Thomas Frank and others have pointed out, they abandoned the working class for the Technical class, hoping for better funding. This left the workers' interests flapping in the wind, and the Republican Party was quick to take advantage of the situation. They pretended sympathy with the workers' grievances and blamed the Democrats and "big government" for the problems -- all the while dismantling legitimate government services like those listed above and cutting regulations on business and banking.

If we want the substantive issues like those above addressed we have to cease being swayed by lifestyle issues, religious grievances, and invented enemies and crises promoted by the Republicans.

It's still the Democrats trying to address the listed issues, but their efforts are usually blocked by the Republicans and Business interests. Nothing gets done.
There are a number of reforms that would address the issues, but I'm not familiar with voter's unions. Do you have a link?

Where is our money? If the Democrats are taking care of things then where is our economic relief? And it's not just about Republicans blocking things. It's about putting the needs of the working class on the back burner

Given the 2017 republican tax cuts there isn't any. The poor and middle class get to subsidize the wealth of the rich. That's how the rich got wealthier during the pandemic. Repiblicans are fine with this. The citizens who vote for republicans are fine with it. Do they understand why? I doubt it. For what you suggest needs to occur in the USA (much of which I agree with) there would need a major attitude change among conservative citizens. They consider us Socialists/Communists, thus evil.
And it's not just about Republicans blocking things. It's about putting the needs of the working class on the back burner
Democrats are a very broad coalition, while republicans are very narrow. It's very difficult to get democrats to agree on every issue. And even if they do they still need some republicans. That is rare these days. America is largely every person for themselves.

Our money "trickled up" after Reaganomics abandoned Keynesian economics for Neoliberalism and deregulation for the "Job Creators." Wealth inequality skyrocketed, jobs went overseas. Government assistance programs dwindled even as poverty increased, and corporations and their Republican supporters -- having monopolized the media -- blamed the "radical liberals" and managed to convince the people to support their actual oppressors.
You haven't been paying attention. Every time the Democrats attempt to introduce some reform, the Republicans block the bill, and it never comes up for a vote. I'm no admirer of the Democrats, but it's the Republicans who've been blocking anything that will cut into their soaring profits.

The Republicans keep cutting taxes, and an impoverished government can't afford to address substantive issues.
Still, despite the Republicans' desire to "shrink government till we can drown it in the bathtub," Democrats keep trying to improve things for the average Joe, with things like health care reform (undermined by the Republicans) or pandemic relief -- opposed by same.

The Republicans have been organizing against the middle class and building an impoverished, compliant workforce ever since Lewis Powell's call to arms back in '71. The Powell Memo: A Call-to-Arms for Corporations | BillMoyers.com

My own religion
It's called focus. The Democrats need to focus on economic issues that benefit everyone.

There are not only economic issues that benefit everyone. In most cases it is a limited group that benefits*.

Note*: There is no objective standard for benefit, so in effect it is about the subjective understanding of the person rating what is a benefit.

We can safely state that this is not the problem of a single party in a single country. All mainstream parties across the developed world are slight variations on the single neoliberal creed. The solution is and always will be worker organisation and mobilisation. From that all else follows.

If you had noticed already just about everything Democrats touch turns into nothing but a bunch of chaos and ends up being a complete mess with things far worse off than ever. They only know how to destroy things, while giving you sweet honey talks about how wonderful the world is going to be with the party and then stab you from behind when you're not looking and putting the blame on other people.

Yes, they do hate them.
Immensely.
They believe that the banking system exists to make them richer and richer. So they couldn't care less about people's right to universal healthcare.

And yet the what prosperity, social services, rights and comforts we do enjoy are almost entirely a products of liberal, usually Democratic, legislation, and almost all of these were vigorously opposed by the conservative Republicans.
Are you speaking of the Democratic party funded by speculators like Soros?
I mean their credibility is below zero.

No, I'm speaking of the Democratic party that championed the five day week, eight hour day, workplace safety, minimum wage, Workers Compensation, Social Security, universal free education, right to unionize, civil rights, women's rights, universal suffrage, Fairness Act, Medicare and Medicaid, food and water safety regulations, pollution and environmental regulations, anti-trust regulations, banking and stock market regulation, and many others opposed by the Republicans.
These are the Acts that made the us a prosperous nation. These created the middle class that the Republicans are working so hard to reign in.

Alas, the democratic party is in tatters -- though they still try.
If we had an informed, secure populace, and legitimate alternatives to the two-party stranglehold, they'd loose a lot of support.

This is the least.
They are not concessions. They are basic rights.
I am really shocked and sometimes saddened and disheartened by the fact that Americans bow to these usurers, and won't dethrone them because they are too nice.
They made that revolution against the English...and then all their strength and courage ran out.
Alas, the democratic party is in tatters -- though they still try.
If we had an informed, secure populace, and legitimate alternatives to the two-party stranglehold, they'd loose a lot of support.
At local level, people can delegitimize these usurers.
Through the cooperative system. Through unions.

The Democrat Party has moved so far left, its left America. Wokism, {identity politics) animate it, not working class issues. The leftist claim to be for the working people, yet hate the working people seeing the 'proletariat ' as being too dumb to manage themselves, needing the strong hand of government to direct them. They need more and more government statism to correct real and unreal enemies. today its not about quality but equity.

No. Quite the contrary. Both parties have moved to the Right, though the Republicans have now gone so far many consider them Neo-Fascists.
Where did you get the idea that the Democrats have shifted to the left? I was alive and politically active 50 years ago, and believe me, both parties have shifted Right.
You've been listening to Republican propaganda.

As for the "far left," yesterdays Republican Conservatives like Nixon and Reagan would fall into the liberal/left range by the standards of today.

Tenets of the 1956 Republican presidential platform (Eisenhower):
  • Provide federal assistance to low-income communities
  • Protect Social Security
  • Provide asylum for refugees
  • Extend minimum wage
  • Improve unemployment benefit system so it covers more people
  • Strengthen labor laws so workers can more easily join a union
  • Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of sex
  • ===================================================================================
  • This was conservatism back in the '50s. Does this sound like today's Republican Party? As I said, today's Democrats are Right of the Republicans of the '70s, while Today's Republicans have become authoritarian and repressive.

Decades ago the Democrat party was noted for real liberals. When I was born liberals like Hubert Humphery defined the party. The greatest liberal in Democrat Party history was perhaps William Jennings Bryant. Today identity politics, woke leftists have replaced liberals with neo-Marxists (aka cultural Marxists, it cannot get more left than that. loons like AOC and far left Bernie Saunders have nothing in common with the Democrat party of a generation ago. As to 'neo-fascist' in the republican party? maybe 5%? As a libertarian I reject the Republicans based on its chrony-capitalism. All statism is authoritarian and repressive, which party is for ever increasing government taxation? The larger the government, the smaller the citizen.
