I have no idea.Pray tell, when did they start to flourish the most?
See, it was in the 60's!
All species are doomed... but the general species lifespan of three million years is nothing to be ashamed of. Heck we've only been around a couple hundred thousand years and already we're looking pretty shaky in the long term.I'm just playing around, of course. But I do believe that if science is not capable (which it already has proven to some extent) of stopping such things, then humans are quite doomed.
Humans are evolving ?
OK...I'll by that...but how do we explain the winged angels.
If the creator created the angels that had wings instead of hair,
and arms and legs, what were the wings attached to, maybe some of the ribs ?
What was their skin made from, scales, feathers, or something like snakeskin.
~
I know....rediculous....didn't the creator banish a lot of the angels to hell with the devil, or satan, or lucifer ?
How do they fly around down there ? Won't their feathers get singed ?
I know, I know ! ......ridiculous again....did satan have a tail? Or was he an angel...or both !
Getting old I am...I keep forgetting all those things.....maybe satan did it !
Oh well....I've never been right since I had my stroke...can you tell ?

Like I said, science has only ended one disease: Small Pox (and that one still technically has the chance to come back, so meh ).
The rest have only grown stronger. It's not a great track record against evolution.

Until you take it to it's logical conclusion...Yes, but what if we simply dump all out technology into nanobots, and program them to eradicate harmful well....ANYTHING.
In theory it is quite a sound idea.
That might be easier if it were just a rock when it is actually a moldy rock.We gotta get off this rock.
We gotta get off this rock.
Until you take it to it's logical conclusion...
Then the machines we programed to protect us from harm will have to eliminate us in order to prevent us from harming us.
Wow.
That sounds like a movie plot or something....
I liked Wargames with Mathew BroderiikYes.....Straight out of i-Robot.......and Terminator....
Not really given human nature.Yes, but what if we simply dump all out technology into nanobots, and program them to eradicate harmful well....ANYTHING.

Not really given human nature.
Where is the profit?
The only time humans have cooperated on solving a single problem was Small Pox, and even then two nations decided to keep it "just in case" so they could turn it into a weapon to kill everyone else. "Just in case"
We can't even keep a space program fully funded and functioning. Why would you think that anyone would do the same for something as wishy-washy as your "techo-utopia"?

I hardly see what is genetic about it. Once a girl goes through puberty she is fertile and can become pregnant. WHEN she first becomes pregnant has far more to do with education level, culture, parental guidance, her own morals and so forth. It's not like there's some genetic internal clock that determines when to pop out the first baby.
That aside, I think we are still evolving because it would be kind of crazy to think evolution would just stop. Nothing stopped it in the previous millions of years, so what would stop it now? However the claim that average age at first birth has anything to do with evolution...well that's just absurd sounding.
We have yet to even genuinely acknowledge the various threats to our long term survival. Some group always makes it their goal to spread dissent on the subject to garner power. Other will insist there is no problem out of misguided faith in "human destiny" and expecting a miracle (spiritual or technological) to save them. This is a solidly repetitive pattern in human behavior. You assume that humans are incapable of ever getting showing cooperation.
You give them a common enemy and they will unite. This is fact.
If extinction isn't a common enemy then why exist?

The extinction spiral, once it starts, progresses exponentially. Once we unite, if it is even possible, it may well be too late.

I completely disagree.
how come?
