humans evolving from monkeys

Would someone explain to me why evolutionists belive that humans evolved from monkeys. In my opinion if we did evolved from monkeys then why is there still monkeys on earth today? Shoulden't they all be evolved?
I'm not sure where you got the false notion that Evolution claims that we "evolved from monkeys." No evolutionists have made this assertion, but we did evolve from primates which are the common ancestor of apes. But, that common ancestor no longer exists, so the issue you raise does not actually exist. Does that make sense?

here is a neat question? why does the 2nd law of thermodynamics apply to everything in existence except atoms, why don't they fall apart once they reach their lowest possible state? what keeps everything moving without stopping at the atomic level.
I hear that argument a lot, and it always puzzles me. Why do you immediately jump to lack of information or understanding providing proof for God's existence. Wouldn't it be more reasonable to chalk it up to us not understanding YET? I mean, our scientific understanding changes all the time as we make new discoveries. Why does the current lack of understanding to this question and questions like it in any way support the claim that these things happen because of God?

I don't worry about what I evolved from. I think in terms of my spiritual side, and my mortal "gritty" side. Spirit is perfection, and the "gritty" is ever changing. My goal is to "grow" into the best that I can be for Myself, and if I do it correctly, I'll attract the most compatible situation for my spiritual side, which has to struggle, at times, in this chaotic world.

What's to worry about? We all evolved from our parents!

So the origin of our mortal "gritty" (I like that term) side can be traced back billions of years to exploding stars that created and distributed the carbon, oxygen, etc, atoms that comprise the grit. And this mortal grit will exist eternally through other uncountable compilations (or at least as long as our universe exists).

But how do you attribute the origins of Spirit? And what happens to it when we die and the grit disperses?

I'd prefer it if you explained why you feel the need to make a strawman assertion to try and make a point.

An incorrect one at that. No one says the humans are descendent from monkeys, we're apes thank you very much.

Maybe he really does need an explanation. Could be that all he learned about evolution was from the creationists, and you know what kind of opinions that leads to.

Well, if you go back far enough, there's monkeys...
I think it's important to be careful with the language when discussing with people who are totally FUBAR about evolution.
And we're not really apes, we're humans. Don't buy into that naked ape stuff that Desmond Morris touts.
Just sayin...

And really, we're not apes, we're human (check your hips). Don't buy into that naked ape stuff that Desmond Morris touts.

Ganlea megacanina (37 million years ago) is thought to be the common ancestor for monkeys and apes. Not clear if it was a monkey. Humans are apes, also primates, mammals, vertebrates, etc.

BTW: no one has taken Morris seriously since the early 1970s.

Humans didn't evolve from monkeys. Humans and monkeys had a common ancestor. Here's a question for you: why do creationists keep asking the same ignorant questions over and over no matter how many times the ignorance is corrected?

They must not be ignorant, that's a reparable condition, they must be stupid, something that is, unfortunately, lifelong.

Absolutely.

The only people who continually labour that false argument are the creationists.

After all, why should they listen to what science has to say when they have magic?
