Abu Ja’far (imam Baqer a.s.) was asked:

‘What is the matter that the people are intellectuals, but they are not knowing?

The imam a.s. replied: Allah -Blessed and High is he-, when He Created
Adam, Made his term to be in front of his eyes, and his hopes to be behind his back. So when he commits an error, his hopes are placed in front of his eyes, and his term to be behind his back. Thus, from then on, they are keeping intellect, but are not knowing’.

Arabic version:
( باب العلة التي من أجلها صار الناس يعقلون ولا يعلمون ) حدثنا أبي رضى عنه قال : حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار ، عن يعقوب بن يزيد ، عن أحمد بن أبي محمد بن أبي نصر ، عن ثعلبة بن ميمون عن معمر بن يحيى ، قال : قلت لأبي جعفر عليه السلام : ما بال الناس يعقلون ولا يعلمون قال : إن الله تبارك وتعالى حين خلق آدم جعل أجله بين عينيه وأمله خلف ظهره ، فلما أصاب الخطيئة حصل أمله بين عينيه وأجله خلف ظهره فمن ثم يعقلون ولا يعلمون .

Abu Ja’far (Imam Baqer a.s.) has said: ‘Ibrahim (a.s.) woke upon one morning and he saw something white (grey hair) in his beard, so he said:
‘The Praise is for Allah, Lord of the Worlds Who Made me reach this age and I have not disobeyed Allah (even) for the blink of an eye’.

حدثنا محمد بن الحسن قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن العباس ابن معروف، عن علي بن مهزيار، عن الحسين
بن عمار، عن نعيم عن أبي جعفر " ع " قال : أصبح إبراهيم " ع " فرأى في لحيته شيبا شعرة بيضاء ، فقال : الحمد لله رب العالمين ، الذي بلغني هذا المبلغ ، ولم أعص الله طرفة عين

Abu Ja’far (Imam Baqer a.s.) has said: ‘If you intend to know that there is good within you, look at your heart. So if it was such that it loves the people who are obedient to Allah -Mighty and Majestic is he- and hates the people who are disobedient to Him, so within you is good, and Allah Loves you. And if it was that it hates the people who are obedient to Allah and loves the people who are disobedient to Him, so there is no good within you, and Allah Hates you. And the person is with the one whom he loves’.

حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن احمد بن الوليد رضى هللا عنه قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن احمد بن محمد، عن
أبيه، عن ابن العرزمى، عن أبيه عن جابر الجعفي، عن أبى جعفر " ع " قال: إذا أردت ان تعلم ان فيك خيرا فانظر إلى قلبك، فان كان يحب أهل طاعة هللا عزوجل ويبغض أهل معصيته ففيك خير وهللا يحبك، وان كان يبغض أهل طاعة هللا ويحب أهل معصيته فليس فيك خير وهللا يبغضك والمرء مع من أحب.

Abu Abdullah (Imam Sadiq a.s.) was asked about the adoration, so he said: ‘The hearts which are empty from the Remembrance of Allah, so Allah Makes them to taste the love of other than Him.

حدثنا محمد بن على ماجيلويه رضى هللا عنه قال: حدثنا عمي محمد بن أبى القاسم عن محمد بن علي الكوفي عن محمد بن سنان عن المفضل بن عمر قال: سألت أبا عبد هللا جعفر بن محمد الصادق " ع " عن العشق فقال قلوب خلت من ذكر الله فاذاقها الله حب غيره.

Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said: ‘Even if the people (entire human race) would be two men, one of them would be an Imam’.

And he said: ‘The last one to die would be the Imam, lest the other one would argue that Allah -Mighty and Majestic is he- Left him without a Proof of Allah over him’.

حدثنا الحسين بن احمد رحمه لله قال: حدثنا احمد بن ادريس، عن عبد هللا بن محمد، عن ابن الخشاب، عن جعفر بن
محمد، عن كرام قال: قال أبو عبد هللا " ع " لو كان الناس رجلين لكان أحدهما االمام،
وقال: ان آخر من يموت الامام لئلا يحتج أحدهم على الله عز وجل تركه بغير حجة لله عليه.

Amir Al-Momineenasws said: ‘The tears do not dry up except due to the hardening of the hearts, and the hearts do not harden except due to the abundance of the sins.’

حدثنا احمد بن الحسن القطان قال: حدثنا احمد بن محمد بن سعيد الهمداني قال: حدثنا على بن الحسن بن فضال، عن
أبيه، عن مروان بن مسلم عن ثابت بن أبى صفية، عن سعد الخفاف، عن االصبغ بن نباته، قال: قال أمير المؤمنين "ع" : ما جفت الدموع إلا لقسوة القلوب ، وما قست القلوب إلا لكثرة الذنوب .

Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said: ‘Allah -Mighty and Majestic is he- Created fresh water and Created from it the people of His obedience, and Made the bitter water and Created from it the people of His disobedience. Then He Commanded for these two to be mixed, and so had it not been for that, neither would the Believer have begotten any except for a Believer, nor the Infidel except for an Infidel’

أصحابنا،عن أبي عبد الله " ع " قال : "إن الله عز وجل : خلق ماء عذبا فخلق منه أهل طاعته ، وجعل ماء مرا فخلق منه أهل معصيته ، ثم أمرهما فاختلطا ، فلولا ذلك ما ولد المؤمن ، إلا مؤمنا ، ولا الكافر إلا كافرا ."

Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said: "Allah - Blessed and High is he- Took the Covenant of the servants, and they were shadows before their births. So what acquaintances there was from the souls, is the intermingling (over here - in this world), and what aversions there was from them, is differing (over here)."

أبى رحمه الله قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبى الخطاب، عن جعفر بن بشير، عن الحسين بن
أبى العلاء، عن حبيب قال: حدثني الثقة، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال : "إن الله تبارك وتعالى : أخذ ميثاق العباد وهم أظلة قبل الميلاد ، فما تعارف من الأرواح أيتلف ، وما تناكر منها اختلف ."

Aba Abdullah - Ja’far ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq (a.s), narrated on the authority of his forefathers, on the authority of Ali (MGB) that God’s Prophet (MGB) said:

“If one wants something (................) , then God will not take him out of this world until He grants it to him.”

Arabic version:

حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار، عن الحسين بن إسحاق التاجر، عن علي بن مهزيار، عن فضالة بن أيوب، عن إسماعيل بن أبي زياد، عن أبي عبد الله جعفر بن محمد، عن آبائه، عن علي عليهم السلام قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: من تمنى شيئا وهو لله عز وجل رضى لم يخرج من الدنيا حتى يعطاه.

[Imam al-Sadiq (a.s) said: “Telling a lie could deny man (the privilege of performing) the Night’s Prayer and thus he will be denied (some of) his income”.] - Reference: Wasa’il al-Shia, vol.5, Hadith #3, Ch.40.

عن أبي عبد الله ( ع ) : إن الرجل ليكذب الكذبة فيحرم بها صلاة الليل فإذا حرم صلاة الليل حرم بها الرزق. (وسائل الشيعة ج5 ح3 ب 40).

Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (MGB), on the authority of his father Musa ibn Ja’far al-Kazim (MGB), on the authority of his father Ja’far ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq (MGB), on the authority of his father Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir (MGB), on the authority of his father Ali ibn al-Hussein as-Sajjad (MGB), on the authority of his father Al-Hussein ibn Ali (MGB) that he had heard his father Ali ibn Abi Talib (MGB) say:

“God’s Prophet (MGB) prayed and said, ‘O God! bless Saturday mornings and Thursday mornings for my nation.' ”

حدثنا محمد بن أحمد البغدادي الوراق قال: حدثنا علي بن محمد بن جعفر ابن أحمد بن عنبسة مولى الرشيد قال: حدثنا دارم بن قبيصة، ونعيم بن صالح الطبري قالا: حدثنا علي بن موسى الرضا، عن أبيه موسى، عن أبيه جعفر، عن أبيه محمد، عن أبيه علي، عن أبيه الحسين، عن أبيه علي بن أبي طالب عليهم السلام قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: "اللهم بارك لأمتي في بكورها يوم سبتها وخميسها."

Translation of the Meanings of the Hadith (Narration):
The prophet SAAW said, Allah SWT said: “Ali bn abi Talib is My Proof on My creations and the guardian of my religion. I will bring forth Imams from his progeny who will establish with my authority and will call towards my path. Through them I keep away the tribulation from my servants and through them I bestow my mercy.”

"قال رسول الله " ص " اخبرني جبرائيل عن الله عز وجل أنه قال علي بن أبي طالب حجتي على خلقي وديان ديني اخرج من صلبه أئمة يقومون بأمري ويدعون إلى سبيلي بهم ادفع البلاء عن عبادي وإمائي وبهم انزل من رحمتي"

Imam Ali (a.s.) said that the prophet (SAAW) said: “The believer sees by (through) the light of Allah.”

عن علي عن النبي صلوات الله عليهما أنه قال : المؤمن ينظر بنور الله .

The Holy Prophet (SAAW) said: “Whenever a man reaches the age of forty and his good deeds do not outweigh his bad deeds, Satan will kiss him (in between his eyes) and say: This is the face of one who will not prosper.".”

قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: إذا بلغ الرجل أربعين سنةٍ ولم يغلب خيرُه شرَّه قَبَّل الشيطان بين عينيه، وقال: هذا وجهٌ لا يفلح.
