It's one thing to declare someone guilty without any evidence. It's quite another to do so before they've had the chance to even act. I think that might even be called pre-prejudicial!

A couple of points. I did not realize that this was in the home area of Biden himself. It was held in the state of Delaware. Here is a very short legal analyst of the trial. The key point at the end, the lawyer thinks that Biden will likely not face prison time. If he doesn't the odds of an appeal are low. If he does even the NRA is ready to step in to support Biden because this law, as I have pointed out elsewhere, probably goes against the Second Amendment:

My comment was to your post about President Biden having to backtrack on his saying he would not pardon Hunter. He has not done so, and therefore your suggestion that he will is convicting him -- not without evidence, but without even the act being done at all.

It probably will not happen. It sounds that this is a first conviction and he has displayed real contrition and appears to have recovered the judge will probably see no need to give him a prison sentence.
Too bad that Trump cannot claim the same.

Why didn't Hunter testify/take the stand?
Isn't not testifying/not taking the stand the same as pleading the fifth?

If you don't take the stand you cannot be asked a question to which you might want to plead the fifth.

If prosecutors never call on the defendant. The defendant is automatically taking the fifth.
