How? What makes a conviction worthless is if no penalty was imposed by the court such as a fine, prison time, or community service.

Biden has a reasonable deal worked out. It was not a sweetheart deal. It was what would be expected considering it was a first offense. That was not good enough for the right wing wacko MAGA's. They raised a stink and the deal was taken away. If he gets off without any punishment that is on the Republicans, and he still may end up getting less of a sentence even if convicted since if the law is deemed unconstitutional he will win there and not serve any time.
