1 Timothy 4:15-16 15Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.
16Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

I thought someone might say that. LOL The owners of this forum space may or may not be pleased that someone thinks this is a spreading place. I personally don't. But, I have been wrong about some things

Oh SavageWind I am new here. What I meant, was that I love your post, the way you put it. So when using the word "spreading" I had in no way the thought of "spreading" like they don't like. I should have used the word "sharing" maybe. So it was a totally positive remark I made, no irony or whatever. I Love you, and totally don't like irony.

Turning the other cheek seems so strange. You create thereby a Cheek-hitter. Better turn your back and thereby save him from hitting you

That's why my preference is this one: Religious Forums

Never been a cheek turner myself, but staying within the religious context it just seemed to fit

If they realize that there is no way of knowing if what they teach is really the truth then why are they spreading it like seeds?
They think it is true via faith.

In my view, nothing much at all can be proven as true about the structure and function of the spiritual realm, and yet all kinds of religious and spiritual people have strong opinions about their specific views. What's the difference between any of these people? Even materialistic scientists extend their purview into areas where science can't determine truth.

People say that the Bible can be used to interpret itself but there are plenty of proofs in that respect that it can disprove certain tenets of theirs but they spread those tenets anyway.

So, I think that many things that they trust to be true are only true due to blindness.

Because it isn't about the unseen. I am talking about what can be seen and what is known.

It is written; do unto others as you would have done to you. I think that most people want to be known and understood. But, modern Christianity is never about believing that the ancients who really wrote what modern people trust in made sense. I trust that scripture is supposed to make sense and for that fact, I am a devil to some people.

I add psychology to the reading of scripture. Would someone who could communicate scripture write two opposing concepts to obey*? What do YOU think?

*listen to, trust, whatever.

Who wants to be a fool? I think no one does.

Bible can be used to interpret itself, I think is very true.
To interpret correctly is quite a different story; you need a smart person
Having so many different interpretations
The logical conclusion is that there are not too many smart people
Maybe that's why Jesus made it simple "Love Thy neighbour as Thyself"
[Unless masochistic, I think all people can interpret that one correctly]
[Lucky for us Jesus made it clear "This is the Greatest Commandment"]
[Of course people might interpret even "this is the Greatest Commandment" wrong]
[But I think it means like "this is enough to know and to follow; you will be safe"]

This is the best! They need not make up meaning because they don't know. Just follow what you know

Thanks for the update. Sometimes I don't use the "red scarf" [but would be good for me to use it more]. So I love your firy reply

"A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished"

I remember a Christian Pastor from the Phillippines that had been taken captive by a notorious group famous for leaving their captives dead. He story went something like this (I know that after 15 years of having heard it, it may be shorter):

Having been strapped to a chair with electrical wires attached to his fingers being turned on and off intermitantly as well as a hose shoved into his mouth with water turned on and off to the point that the eyes were blood shot heard the voice of God that said, "Tell them that you love them".

His mental answer was, "I DON'T LOVE THEM, I HATE THEM".

Torture continued and he heard again, "Tell them that you LOVE them".

His mental answer again was, 'I DON'T LOVE THEM, I HATE THEM."

A third time he heard God say, "Tell them that you LOVE them", and the pastor remembering Jesus on the cross found a God love for them and said to his captors "Jesus loves you and I do too".

He said that it was as if the leader had been hit by a bullet in his head and took two steps backwards replying, "WHAT DID YOU SAY?"

With a little greater strength, the pastor said "JESUIS LOVES YOU AND I DO TOO"!

They unhooked him, shoved a rod up his rear and said, "IF WE SEE YOU AGAIN, YOU ARE A DEAD MAN".

He was able to crawl out and people took him to a hospital. He survived and spent the next three years recovering at a sponsoring church in Indiana--more mental restoration that physical. Until at a chapel he heard God again and He said, "Now go back and preach the Gosepl".

I would assume, since he couldn't "hide himself", the benefit of turning the other cheek saved his life? I would assume that if he just cursed them, he would be dead today.

I wonder if they would have done that to his rear if he had just invoked Ho' oponopono?

I'm sorry; please forgive me; Thank you; I love you.

I tell them that what they are teaching from the Bible is not what was written and they say we can't know that.

And, I agree that it is a difficult thing to turn your backs on tradition.

But, most people will stick to what they think they know and, is that a bad thing?

It is whenever they spread it!

If they realize that there is no way of knowing if what they teach is really the truth then why are they spreading it like seeds?

savagewind,
What you say reveals that you have barely a Nodding Acquaintance, with the Holy Scriptures. There are several reasons that a person has no belie in the Bible, and by reading several of your posts I believe zi know the reason, Psalms 10:3,4, Isaiah 26:10,11, Daniel 12:10, Proverbs 28:5. Also, Jesus taught that a person’s heart condition makes them unable to understand, Matthew 13:13-15, Mark 7:21-23, 2Thessalonians 2:7-13. If a person becomes like a child, even though he is young, he can understand, Luke 10:21. A person who remains like a babe will never learn the truth of the Holy Scriptures, Hebrews 5:11-15. By reading and Praying to God for His Holy Spirit, you form a longing for the unadulterated word of the Bible, 1Peter 2:2,3, 1Corinthians 2:10, 2Corinthians 4:1-6.

Today, I am happy. Thank you.

savagewind,
Why are you happy? Someone must have told you something that you believed already and tickled your ears with false teachings, 2Timothy 4:1:4. 1John 5:3. I don’t remember you being happy with TRUTH, John 4:23,24, 2Thessalonians 2:7-13.
A great cause for not believing is because of living according to the flesh and not according to the Spirit, Romans 8:1-17, Galatians 5:16-25.

I put that kind of behavior mostly down to the ego or psychological self. Basically, the more people they convert to their way of thinking -- whether that way be right or wrong -- the better they think about themselves.

Besides, we humans are social animals. We like others to believe as we believe. Although, in the process of getting others to believe like we believe, the truth is too often the last thing we're really concerned with.

But whatever the reasons for it, you see the same behavior in all aspects of our lives. Folks proselytize more than religious beliefs.

Sunstone,
If you have never enjoyed the great privilege of teaching another person the truth of Christianity, you have missed a feeling like nothing in the world. When you have tried to get something into a person’s heart, and, all of a sudden you see a light go off in his eyes, and you know that he, at least, understands the doctrine you have been trying to explain. If you help another to become God’s friend, you become someone very special to that person, possibly throughout all eternity, and you also, could have saved his life, and have gotten closer to God yourself, 1Timothy 4:13-16.

Do you mean no belief? I believe what is true in the Bible so you can't rightly say I have "no" belief in it.

That is a lot of bull****. Are you not a Jehovah's Witness? You know nothing of the Bible but what you are told to know.

@12jtartar I don't even have no belief in the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses. Because, if not for them I would not know that religions (which indeed does include them and you) are a snare and a racket.

Psalms 10:3,4, For the wicked one boasts about his selfish desires*+And blesses the greedy one;* He disrespects Jehovah. 4 In his haughtiness, the wicked man makes no investigation; All his thoughts are: “There is no God.”+

You are calling me wicked. Right? Matthew 7:1

Isaiah 26:10,11
10 Even if the wicked is shown favor,He will not learn righteousness.+Even in the land of uprightness* he will act wickedly,+And he will not see the majesty of Jehovah.+11 O Jehovah, your hand is raised, but they do not see it.+They will see your zeal for your people and be put to shame.Yes, the fire for your adversaries will consume them.

Again? Are you calling me wicked? Matthew 7:1

Daniel 12:10
10 Many will cleanse themselves and whiten themselves and will be refined.+ And the wicked ones will act wickedly, and none of the wicked will understand; but those having insight will understand.+

I think you are calling me wicked again. Matthew 7:1

Proverbs 28:5.
5 Evil men cannot understand justice,But those who seek Jehovah can understand everything.+

OK. Are you OK?

Also, Jesus taught that a person’s heart condition makes them unable to understand, Matthew 13:13-15
13 That is why I speak to them by the use of illustrations; for looking, they look in vain, and hearing, they hear in vain, nor do they get the sense of it.+ 14 And the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled in their case. It says: ‘You will indeed hear but by no means get the sense of it, and you will indeed look but by no means see.+ 15 For the heart of this people has grown unreceptive, and with their ears they have heard without response, and they have shut their eyes, so that they might never see with their eyes and hear with their ears and get the sense of it with their hearts and turn back and I heal them.’+

I am not the one teaching that a person needs an anointed man to tell me what is true and what isn't. Isn't that YOU?

Mark 7:21-23
21 For from inside, out of the heart of men,+ come injurious reasonings, sexual immorality,* thefts, murders, 22 acts of adultery, greed, acts of wickedness, deceit, brazen conduct,* an envious eye, blasphemy, haughtiness, and unreasonableness. 23 All these wicked things come from within and defile a man.”

Sigh

2Thessalonians 2:7-13
. 7 True, the mystery of this lawlessness is already at work,+ but only until the one who is right now acting as a restraint is out of the way. 8 Then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth+ and bring to nothing by the manifestation+ of his presence. 9 But the lawless one’s presence is by the operation of Satan+ with every powerful work and lying signs and wonders*+ 10 and every unrighteous deception+ for those who are perishing, as a retribution because they did not accept the love of the truth in order that they might be saved. 11 That is why God lets a deluding influence mislead them so that they may come to believe the lie,+ 12 in order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness.13 However, we are obligated always to thank God for you, brothers loved by Jehovah,* because from the beginning God selected you+ for salvation by sanctifying you+ with his spirit and by your faith in the truth.

If a person becomes like a child, even though he is young, he can understand, Luke 10:21.
21 In that very hour he became overjoyed in the holy spirit and said: “I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have carefully hidden these things from wise and intellectual ones+ and have revealed them to young children. Yes, O Father, because this is the way you approved.+

Do you really consider the men of the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses like "young children"? For real?

A person who remains like a babe will never learn the truth of the Holy Scriptures, Hebrews 5:11-15.
11 We have much to say about him, and it is difficult to explain, because you have become dull in your hearing. 12 For although by now* you should be teachers, you again need someone to teach you from the beginning the elementary things+ of the sacred pronouncements of God, and you have gone back to needing milk, not solid food. 13 For everyone who continues to feed on milk is unacquainted with the word of righteousness, for he is a young child.+ 14 But solid food belongs to mature people, to those who through use have their powers of discernment* trained to distinguish both right and wrong.

So now you are saying that I should become like a child, but not like a child. It is a good thing that I believe I have God on my side. Jesus Christ!

By reading and Praying to God for His Holy Spirit, you form a longing for the unadulterated word of the Bible, 1Peter 2:2,3
2 As newborn infants,+ form a longing for the unadulterated* milk of the word, so that by means of it you may grow to salvation,+ 3 provided you have tasted* that the Lord is kind.

I did that! And, I recommend it. You don't believe I did. Do you?

1Corinthians 2:10
+ 10 For it is to us God has revealed them+ through his spirit,+ for the spirit searches into all things, even the deep things of God.+

I do not know why you are suggesting that! OMG! You are not even allowed to do that. Are you not a JW?

2Corinthians 4:1-6.
Therefore, since we have this ministry through the mercy that was shown us, we do not give up. 2 But we have renounced the shameful, underhanded things, not walking with cunning or adulterating the word of God;+ but by making the truth manifest, we recommend ourselves to every human conscience in the sight of God.+ 3 If, in fact, the good news we declare is veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things*+has blinded the minds of the unbelievers,+ so that the illumination*of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God,+ might not shine through.+ 5 For we are preaching, not about ourselves, but about Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God is the one who said: “Let the light shine out of darkness,”+ and he has shone on our hearts to illuminate them+ with the glorious knowledge of God by the face of Christ.
