My Abbott once told me if Islam or Christianity is working for you, stick to it with your heart and soul.

That is the respect we have for them, do you know what jehovas think of Buddhist.

Hahaha. I'm sorry you're experiencing that. It's been my experience that if you make it clear to them that you're not interested in what they have to say, they leave you alone.

Apartments are supposed to have anti-solicitation rules, aren't they?

I think so, someone said give them a break they are doing their job.

no, they have a church, I know where it is if I wish to engage in a brainwashing session.

Happened in my house but now the apartment, its wrong.

The are like the Amway of religion in the way they are conducting themselves.

No, you're right. They have no business bothering people at home about that. Sometimes Christians (not JW's) come to advertise about church events but I just politely decline. That's fine. But to make it a point to do door to door evangelism is wrong, in my opinion.

I always like to have a little debate with them, there usually nice people just caught up in their belief system, they know no better, so be kind to them.

Well they're absolutely right about the Trinity no matter what, no doubt about that.

But on almost everything else, their arguments are so full of holes that they fall in them trying to cover for it.

If your door is closed to strangers, maybe you might want to see what happens when you open up and pretend that a stranger with the audacity to ring your security phone isn't trying to ruin your day, but is just trying to get through his.

I know. Kinda like people who are certain that they have nothing to learn from people they find a little rude.

But seriously, it is very hard. I wonder, how much you would learn if you took on that challenge instead of dismiss it out of hand? You made them an enemy, that's easy. Imagine how much you would learn by trying to make them a friend, forgiving their pride and judgement without comment, and doing so without giving up any believe you aren't willing to give up?

I think you may find that this relationship is less one-sided than you want to believe, and the disrespect and attitude you feel from them might be related to what you are giving off to start with.

Or you can live life wanting to be left alone and wanting them to feel misguided for their convictions.

What? Me worry?
I use to love to have the JW's drop by. Usually the would leave muttering to themselves or condemning me to eternal damnation. But they haven't been by in a few years. I must be on some type of 'no contact' list. I miss those guys.

JWs and Mormons knocking on the door fall into the same category as telephone solicitors. They're an uninvited and unwanted intrusion who would do the world a favor by doing community service work or simply staying in bed for the day; something useful.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Hahaha. And I'll go door to door to spread the Good News of Satan! :p
You should have seen how many doors were slammed on John Saffron when he went out to preach atheism to the Mormons. *grin*

Guess some just don't appreciate turnabout as being fair play.

Figures! That's a totally predictable response. The preacher hates being preached at!

Is there video of Safron's adventure with the Mormons? :p

Your full of assumptions arnt you, from one post you gather in not open to other views.

I am very open, don't even pretend their approach is right, ringing every bell on the apartment block, come on.

And I have no problem with their beliefs, its their approach, but you do realise they have a major problem with my beliefs.

Just tell them you are busy today, but make a half hour appointment with them at another time then schedule the Mormons for the same timeslot, and prepare yourself some popcorn before they arrive :p

I get JWs at my door sometimes, too. I talk to them for a bit sometimes. They're usually pretty nice people. Since I studied with them for several months when I was a teen, I know that they feel as though they need to do this (go door to door). They usually leave a Watchtower magazine or an Awake, too, for no cost (To me).
