I Propose A Challenge

Those who don’t believe in Christ, I challenge you to pretend that you do for about a week and come back here and tell me if you feel any different. You have to pretend that Christ is alive in your heart though. Whatever that means to you. See ya in a week.
I’m sure your intentions are good, but I believe Jesus Christ desires sincerely on the part of anyone who believes in Him, rather than pretending.

Yeah, that’s the whole purpose of my proposal, hoping that the pretending will become real. It’s for the people who have hearts of stone.

I tried this with atheism once. I came back a week later with a still firm belief in God. I guess some things are difficult to let go of.

You tried.
I'm just not a suitable candidate.
I think everyone is a suitable candidate. That is if you’ve ever done anything wrong, lied, hurt someone, cheated, whatever; sinned in any way. Unless, you have lived a perfect life equal to God’s glorious perfection… then you wouldn’t be a candidate.

Unfortunately some people live and die never knowing the Lord. It’s all good. To each their own.

What about the people who never have any opportunity to even understand what a Christian god is?

Plenty of human beings throughout history fit that description - and they vastly outweigh those who understand what Christianity is.

How can you answer for that?

I do think that is very sad.

Perfection isn't needed.
Belief is.
But I'm an adult.
No unevidenced fairy tales that don't even
make any sense.
Even as a kid I never believed in Santa Claus,
Easter Bunny, Jesus, Buddha, God, Allah, etc.
This is a perspective that's very foreign to
the faithful. Perhaps none can imagine or
understand it.

Christ can reach those people as well.

Have you read Romans chapter two?
True many throughout history have not heard of Christ/Christianity. God knows a person’s mind, heart, and thoughts and they will be judged accordingly by these with regard to their understanding and the information they had available.

Some people have hardened hearts that nothing can penetrate.

Nevertheless, I am sure you do have faith or believe many things; like bacon is good, probably a lot you hear on the news, that vaccines are safe and effective, you can trust a car or plane to get from one place to another, and you likely believe in various people like accountants, doctors, friends, bankers, etc.
So there’s the possibility you just haven’t realized your need or the necessity of trusting the One who created heaven and earth and you.

I do think that some do reach the point of hardening their hearts and becoming so depraved that they are beyond hope, but only God knows who and when that occurs.

Well, we know there’s 500 to 750,000,000 atheist who qualify at this present time. Also, I’m talking about hardened hearts, not depraved hearts. I’m talking about a hardened heart that has the inability to know Christ. There’s a few different meanings of hardened heart. Another is to lose compassion or kindness.

Those who don't believe in Ollie the Magic Octopus, I challenge you to pretend that you do for about a week and come back here and tell me if you feel any different, You have to pretend that Ollie is alive in your calamari though, whatever that means to your intestines.
