IFIf God existed, would there be any atheists?
This is a yes or no question, so please answer yes or no.
If you answer yes, please explain why there would still be atheists if God existed.
If you answer no, please explain why there would be no more atheists if God existed.

Flat earthers and creationists reject all the facts and evidence that overwhelmingly demonstrate that the earth is spherical and that life evolved.
Clearly people are more then capable of rejecting / ignoring / denying overwhelming amounts of independendly verifiable evidence.
At first, you would think that it was flat earthers trying to claim that the launch was a hoax or that the footage was manipulated to show that the world was round but it was actually people mocking flat earthers for believing something so ridiculous when the evidence was clear to see.
This question presupposes that there is no God.If God existed, would there be any atheists?

Faith is belief
Truth is that which accords with fact or reality
God the stone. Not us.
The Father of God, a human scientist.
Cold radiation in space....no image.
Heat radiation in space....you get an image.
Once a male says, God was an angel, burst, burnt and went to Hell.
The Image, proof it occurred.
An A theist, if God existed would an atheist exist.
Fair enough. I never said that there was any proof of gods, there isn't any.Again
There is no proof of gods but people believe in gods.
There is a material reality and a spiritual reality.Truth is that which accords with fact or reality
That is true, but on the flip side, the thing might have been sufficiently demonstrated to exist, yet some people mighty not consider the demonstration sufficient.Yes.
Because if a certain thing actually exists, doesn't necessarily mean that it can be sufficiently demonstrated to justify believing it exists.
You don't believe God exists, but He could... You don't believe it because you do not believe that the available evidence justifies believing it. Doesn't mean God doesn't exist.I don't believe extra-terrestrials that visit earth exist, but they could... I don't believe it because the available evidence doesn't justify believing it. Doesn't mean they don't exist.
I think that atheists demonstrate that even if there were overwhelming evidence for the existence of God, there would still be people denying the obvious. On the flip side, I think that flat earthers and creationists demonstrate that even if there were overwhelming evidence, there would still be people denying the obvious.
That's true. People can reject even what has been proven to them with verifiable evidence, so even if we had absolute proof that God exists some people might deny that God exists.Flat earthers and creationists reject all the facts and evidence that overwhelmingly demonstrate that the earth is spherical and that life evolved.
Clearly people are more then capable of rejecting / ignoring / denying overwhelming amounts of independently verifiable evidence.
All atheists say the same thing about evidence, which is why I paint them with the same brush. Then you appear to be unfairly painting all atheists with the same brush when it is not warranted. I most certainly would change my position if presented with evidence that could withstand scrutiny.
God could do that if He wanted to, since God is omnipotent, so the fact that we see no such evidence means that God chooses not to provide it.I never said he should, I simply presented an example of how if God interacted with this world it would leave verifiable evidence behind.
I agree that what you noted above is not evidence for God's existence.Trailblazer: What evidence for God is built on logical fallacies?
All the evidence that I have seen. The ontological argument, for example. I've also seen believers present the argument from popularity, the First Cause argument, Pascal's wager. They are all built on logical fallacies. If you think there is some argument that does not depend on such a fallacy, I'd like to see it. But if a fallacy is there, I will certainly point it out.
Yes, science people. You know those are done by people, right?
Yes, I know it is a silly question and now I will come clean as to why I posted it. I have been talking about God's existence with a certain atheist on another forum fro bout six years and recently he insisted that if God exists there would be no atheists. The reason he thinks that is because he believes that if God existed, God would prove it to everyone in the world by communicating directly to everyone. So he thinks that the fact that God has not communicated directly to everyone is proof that God does not exist. This is completely absurd because there is no reason to believe that if God existed God would communicate directly to everyone. In fact, we know that if God exists God does not communicate directly to everyone, so that alone is proof that if God existed God would not communicate directly to everyone. This is logic 101. I have explained that to this atheist over and over again, but he does not understand why his premises are completely invalid. He still insists that if God existed God would communicate directly to everyone.Yes.
The question does not seem a very sensible one.
That is true, because humans are very complex and what they do does not always make sense, so my atheist friend saying that everyone would believe in God if God communicated directly to everyone is really naive as well as illogical. If the existence of God were proved, then there would be few atheists, though there would still probably be some, just as there are flat-earthers, anti-vaxxers etc today.
Why would God have to be proved to exist in order for atheists to believe that God exists? Why isn't evidence of God's existence sufficient? But if God exists but is not proved to exist, there is no compelling reason for atheists to abandon their view.
No, that is not what I was asking. Are you saying if there were mountains of verifiable evidence for a god would there still be people who lacked a belief in god? If so, then yes there still would be. After all there's mountains of verifiable evidence for evolution and we still have people who don't believe in the theory. We have mountains of verifiable evidence that the Earth is a sphere, yet there are still people who insist the Earth is a flat disc. Some people base their beliefs on feelings, not facts, so there will be people who will continue to believe whatever they want regardless of the evidence.
The bible occult science medical biological documentation cannot be factually argued against. No, that is not what I was asking.
I asked: If God existed, would there be any atheists?
I know it is a silly question, but it was inspired by an atheist who insists that there would be no atheists if God exists because God would see to it that everyone believed in Him. I just explained about this atheist's position in the previous post: #97 Trailblazer
But I agree with you that even if there were mountains of verifiable evidence for God, there would still be people who lacked a belief in God because as you said, some people base their beliefs on feelings, not facts, so there will be people who will continue to believe whatever they want regardless of the evidence.
