So... then pooping is pretty sinful?

Full disclosure: I just made this up.

But yeah, kind of. There's stigma about poop.

Let's add some context.
Would it be bad if your lover caught you masturbating? maybe not. depends.
Getting caught masturbating in your office at work would be worse.
Worse than that would be getting caught in your bosses office.

What about pooping in your office?
Or your bosses office?

Ok, i have read the whole thread and I don't think this question has been asked yet, so here it is:

If masterbation does not hurt or harm you or anyone else, why is it a sin? If you say it's a sin, then WHY is it?

Also, i wanted to make a comment too: this also helps to decreas your sex drive, if that is what you want, eating a very low fat diet and maintain your body weight and don't gain waight. Eating a high fat diet, particularly saturated fats, will produce more testosterone (which makes you horny). So, if you eat a low fat diet, then your test goes down. I did not just research this, i have also experimented with it and found it to be true. Also, when you gain weight, your body is in a surplus of calories and nutrients, so your body is going to be producing more tissue, mussle, fat, and hormones, so that will also increase your erges.

So, low fat diet, maintain your body weight.

Now, to my question, why is masterbation a sin?

The only way that masturbation is a sin is if you are part of a group of people that is so vibrant and busy doing good work that it takes away from your duties. I just don't see modern Christians living that way. They waste time constantly, so masturbation makes no difference. Its a sin in that it isn't living in perfection but its not like you trip a blind person by doing it or like kicking a dog or something. If you are a serious Christian then spend your time doing good things. Otherwise it just doesn't matter, because you're wasting time.

It's a sin in some denominations, like Catholicism, because their teachings on sexuality are founded on a certain view of "natural law". In this view, sex is primarily for reproduction and sexuality can only be morally expressed in a marriage between one man and one woman and must be open to the possibility of conception.

It's mostly coming from Thomas Aquinas. Either way, it's a very outdated view of sexuality.

of course everyone can say masturbation is a sin, but it could not be true, so many people assume things, if a poet writes that it's raining outside, people would go "oh the artist is suffering, his love betrayed him, he's in between worlds searching for himself, trying to escape the universe" uhm no, it's just raining. Maybe God should come to earth and reestablish these rules, making it clear to people who just "assume"

Religions call it a sin to promote the feelings of guilt that give clerics power over people.

It's just part of the scam.

I haven't been masturbating for some time now, and i fell the urges coming. I tried to use people's advice "get busy" and stuff, but it just comes anyway eventually. I'm gay so i'm most definitely will never be married. So my only option is to "hold it in" for the rest of my life? considering that adultery is a sin and masturbation is a sin, it's really hard to stop the cravings for masturbation. If you think how many people have sex (out of marriage) and masturbate everyday, you'd wonder where is this world coming to. some people believe in just masturbating and asking God for forgiveness, but you can't ask and be forgiven every time you do it, i assume. So what's by best option? i was thinking of castration - but seriously NO. I just don't want to make God any angrier than he probably already is and at the same time satisfy myself.

Why can't you get married someday? Things are changing. Personally, the reason for masturbating being a sin, IMO, is that in the Bible, people used to think that the baby was contained in the sperm, so when you masturbate, you are killing a baby. That was the prevailing thought back then, but I am not Orthodox, so maybe there is a different reason in the Orthodox faith for saying it is a sin. Most people masturbate, so there must a lot of sinning going on.

So....masterbation is a sin because it's wasting time and taking time away from doing good for others?

That makes zero sense to me. By your standard, pooping, cleaning the house, spending time with the wife watching a movie, going for a peacefull walk, going to the gym, all of this is wasting time because were not feeding the hungry and clothing the naked at those times?

That makes no sense. TRUE, new testament christianity is not about not living in the real world.

What if the soul is not within the seed of the man yet? What if the soul of the baby goes in the seed after it reaches the egg, and perhaps it does not even go in by then either, it has to grow first.

So murder would be after the soul enters the body.

Not what I meant. I believe you have misunderstood my words. Wasting time is a sin. Not all of those things you mention are a waste of time and some of them would have to be judged by you yourself, being a matter between you and God. If you think something is a waste of time then for you it is sin. If you think masturbation is productive and beneficial, then perhaps you should do it.

That would royally suck.
I mean, if your spouse is infertile you are sinning by having sex with them....
No sex during pregnancy...
In fact, there is only like a 7-10 window each month you are allowed to have sex...

They have that covered. Apparently it's okay for married couples to have sex whenever they want regardless of likelihood of pregnancy. They're "upholding the spirit of marriage".

Some of the supporters of that argument try to get around it by using anatomy based arguments. You know, the ones that say it's okay to have penis in vagina sex because the parts "match up" but not so with gay sex.

Ah, so nothing for them other than intercourse...
And I bet they even have "regulations" concerning alleged non-sinful positions and even who has to be on top....
