Wishing anything upon any person based on race is racist. Plain and simple.
I didn't even need to hesitate to answer "yes" here, this is a no-brainer. If you need this explained to you, there's something wrong.

"White genocide" is white supremacist speak for race mixing.
I assume he was meaning it in that sense, not the literal one.

Communist genocides in the 20th century were motivated by the perceived political loyalty of different national minority groups to the regime, rather than race. race and nationality were treated separately in the literature as a basis for determining the "intent to destroy" a people. They did not use a conception of race as a basis for official motivation in the preparation, planning and execution of genocide but are included within the definition of genocide because it covers attempts to destroy a people on the basis of nationality, ethnicity and religion as well as race. Genocide also covers a number of actions in addition to extermination of a people:
...any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily harm, or harm to mental health, to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
The term is confusing. Its definitely evil. Race means that you discriminate based on someone's lineage -- or at least it used to.

So much so, and so unapologetically, that I strongly suspect that there's some context missing. The article referenced the slaughter in Haiti after the slave revolt. That was not racist per se. It's that all the slave owners happened to be French and therefore white.
Maybe the professor was looking for an example from history where white people were targeted for their race. I don't know of one off hand. Who knows?

No doubt the guy is a complete bonehead, but I don't think he was truly advocating white genocide.

I'm a product of "white genocide", myself.
Why? He's just a radical Marxist anti-racist and anti-imperialist activist. I don't see anything wrong with what he said, when you put it into context.
I was looking more at the form than the content. He could probably could have expressed it in a more clever, witty, and intellectually oriented manner. People who make fart noises in church don't impress me, even if I agree with the sentiment.
Fair enough, I suppose. In your face bluntness and irony isn't for everyone but I find it punk rock, personally.
Apparently that's the case.
He made a snarky, over the top, statement in defense of basic decency. And he has now lost his job.
A win for the racists, it looks to me.
