The question is simple. Is it racist to wish genocide upon any ethnicity? The answer is a simple yes or no. Make your vote and explain why you feel the way you feel.

Yes, it is disgusting, inhuman and racist.
And to publish such ideas in the media would be a criminal offence where I live.

I'm pretty sure you don't mean that it is no big deal to be genocidally racist as long as nothing comes of it.
I didn't say that at all. But obviously there's a difference between a crank saying hateful nonsense and an organized, well-supported effort to commit genocide. Neither are acceptable but one is much more serious. Again, I don't know what this French president said since I'm not aware of the episode so I have to by what you're saying. Obviously if someone said that, they shouldn't be in power.

Agreed, but there are people of power and influence who are so racist and genocidal and who push what they view as advancement towards this goal.
And who are these people?

"White genocide" is white supremacist speak for race mixing.

I assume he was meaning it in that sense, not the literal one.

My goodness, so he was using the word as click-or-say bait?

Using the word genocide in such a way makes me wonder about the speaker's mind.

I don't buy it. Sounds like a cop out to me.

I think he meant it literally. But then when he got into trouble he backpeddled and said it's about race mixing.

The fact is, if you insert any other ethnicity into that equation it is automatically racist, putrid, vile, and hateful. But when you insert white into the equation there is only excuses, for how it alone is not racist. In a society that is attempting egalitarianism this is non-sequitur.

It was Sarkozy in 2008, but I can't find a full transcript of his speech. I will withdraw the claim until I can further verify it. The parts I saw said the challenge that must be faced is that of mixing races. The portion about coercion could, to give the benefit of the doubt, be about accepting the children of mixed couples, which would vastly alter the connotations and change the statement from monstrous to something commendable.

It's a pretty big distortion of "genocide" when it's twisted from its normal definition - the systematic mass murder of a people - to mean when white people freely choose to start loving families with non-white partners.

Given the choice:

a) he was using a common white supremacist term to poke fun at white supremacists (and possibly engage in a bit of PC virtue signalling at the same time)
b) he was literally calling for the systematic slaughter of all white people including himself

I find it pretty difficult to believe option b) is more plausible if you look at it without prejudice.

Feminist call this mentality "internalized misogyny" (when a woman disagrees with feminist views).

So why is it do hard to apply that mentality to racism? Can someone not hate their own race? Hmm let's see.

Explicit language warning!

You have zero reason to believe he was calling for literal genocide. Come off it.

Especially when you consider that it was made in what was supposed to be a private Twitter account, whatever that means.

Other than his words. LoL

Honestly if the guy had inserted a minority in that sentence instead of white. Do you think you would react the same way? I think not.

Words have context, you know. And we know the context of what he was saying. You're looking for something that's not there. You must be bored.

Fine. I dare you to make a new post called "All I want for Christmas is >insert non-white ethnicity< genocide. What do you think would happen?

A. People would be understanding and ask for context to decipher your true meaning.

B. Banned immediately for hate speech

Do it if your so confident.

No, because it wouldn't make any sense like the professor's comment does as a joke. Get over yourself with your paranoid thinking.

Suppose I did.
All I want for Christmas is black genocide
Then went on to talk about how much hope I have for this country, and how I see multi-racial babies as a key component of a post racist society by continuing to blur the lines between the races. Even if it does mean that there are fewer people of "pure" blood. Including black people.

Then why not do it then?

Because you know with 100% certainty what would happen. It's a shame that you cannot admit it.

I already said why it wouldn't work. Are you really not familiar with white supremacists using "white genocide" to refer to race mixing?
