Tell me: why do high crime areas have a church on every corner? It doesn't seem to be working.
They took Bible teaching out of the classroom? And the "Thou shalt not kill" commandment?

No, not really. Explain why western nations that are far less religious than the U.S. also have far less crime than the U.S.
The issue is poverty and poor quality education. Ancient goat herder fables have nothing to do with it.
Because faith is more than just "saying" I'm a Christian?

The Bible hasn't been..........expelled from school, so to speak. Student-led prayers are fine. Keep the faculty out of it.
Yes... we are getting the Bible back in. Interestingly enough, crime is going down. :)

Subject opinion to coercion: whom will you make your inquisitors? Fallible men; men governed by bad passions, by private as well as public reasons. And why subject it to coercion? To produce uniformity. But is uniformity of opinion desirable? No more than of face and stature. Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one-half the world fools and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth. I know it will give great offense to the clergy, but the advocate of religious freedom is to expect neither peace nor forgiveness from them."
-Thomas Jefferson

Yes... the United States has freedoms and there is truth to what he says. I don't think Jesus promoted "uniformity" but rather "love". The body doesn't have uniformity but it does have singleness in purpose.

My ears hear with pleasure the other matters you mention. Congress will be glad to hear them too. You do well to wish to learn our arts and ways of life, and above all, the religion of Jesus Christ. These will make you a greater and happier people than you are. Congress will do every thing they can to assist you in this wise intention; and to tie the knot of friendship and union so fast, that nothing shall ever be able to loose it
George Washington

So you found an amazingly ignorant signer of the Declaration of Independence. I could find an amazingly ignorant person in almost any fair sized group. Do you have a point?
As one who influenced Thomas Paine... not sure he was ignorant.

Yes, because the only reason the crime rate is dropping is bringing the Bible back into schools, which didn't even happen.
That's some excellent reporting, @KenS. I'm sure you'll get a Pulitzer Prize soon.

From David Ben Gurion, first prime minister of modern Israel, good advice to anyone anywhere

Courage is a special kind of knowledge: the knowledge of how to fear what ought to be feared and how not to fear what ought not to be feared.

"And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the Press, or the rights of Conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; …"
Samuel Adams
quoted in the Philadelphia Independent Gazetteer, August 20, 1789, "Propositions submitted to the Convention of this State"

"Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state." ` Thomas Jefferson.

That's a great quote! Although it was tailored to American quotes... I appreciate the addition. He is a great man.

Who is "getting the bible back in" and how? How would you feel if the taxes you've paid were used to buy and distribute korans or gitas to students by faculty? Or if students were lead by schools to participate in muslim or hindu prayer?

No. The fact of the moral against 'wrongful death in human history is not dependent on this commandment.
