Is God a murderer?

there are many scriptures in the bible that tell of god killing people or either commanding them to kill others many christians choose to believe that when god does it, its ok.

it is written as though they deserved it for disobeying god, being unrightous or standing in the way of his plans.

Why is it OK for god to kill people, yet he commands us not to? Life is not exclusively determined by a god, and if it was, I feel there would be a lot less hatred and murder in the world. Any loving God would want his creations to flourish and be happy, not endure countless atrocities.

look at it this way. if you were spiritually revered and wanted to convince people that your killing was justified, wouldnt you say that god willed it?

Isn't there a difference between a killing and an execution?

Atrocities are committed by people against people.
While on earth Jesus taught to lay down the sword, so to speak.
The heavenly Jesus still believes the same.
Compare Matt 26v52 with Rev 13v10.

When Jesus steps in, so to speak, to take action no people will be involved.
Please notice Rev 19vs11,14,15 because Jesus uses heavenly angelic armies to rid the earth of the wicked -Psalm 92v7; Isaiah 11v4.

So Jesus, as executioner, balances the scales of Justice [Proverbs 21v18] and makes true to his promise from Psalm 37vs11,19; Matt 5v5 that the humble meek will inherit the earth, or the earthly realm of God's kingdom.
-Proverbs 2vs21,22; 10v30.

Zechariah 13: 7, The Lord Almighty says, “Wake up Sword, and attack the shepherd who works for me! Kill him, etc. If the spiritual war of words cannot be won, then will the Lord himself descend and stand on the Mount of Olives and go out and fight for his people as he has fought in times past.

Numbers 24: 17, “A king, like a bright star, will arise in that Nation. Like a comet he will come from Israel. He will strike the leaders of Moab and beat down all the people of Seth. He will conquer his enemies in Edom and make their land his property. While Israel continues victorious. The Nation of Israel will trample them down and wipe out the last survivors.”

It will be on that great day of tribulation, before the thousand year rule of the risen body of Christ, who will take the thrones that have been prepared for them, that the Lord gathers all the nations around Jerusalem, Zechariah 12: 10, and they will look upon me and see the one who they pierced, and they shall mourn for him as one mourns for an only child etc.

Isaiah 63: 1-6, “Who is this coming from the city of Bozrah in Edom? Who is this so splendidly dressed in red, marching along in power and strength?” It is the Lord, powerful to save, coming to announce his victory. “Why is his clothing so red, like that of a man who tramples grapes to make wine?”
The Lord answers, “I have trampled the nations like grapes and no one came to help me. I trampled them in my anger, and their blood has stained all my clothing. I decided that the time to save my people had come; it was time to punish their enemies, I was amazed when I looked and saw that there was no one to help me. But my anger made me strong, and I won the victory myself. In my anger I trampled whole nations and shattered them, I poured out their life’s blood on the earth.”

The Lord will come to fight for his people Israel as he has fought in times past and from within the inner most sanctuary of his tabernacle, which is the body of mankind, (For the kingdom of God is within you) he will fight the enemies of Israel; those Nations who surround Jerusalem in their attempt to drive God's chosen people into the sea. The Lord will throw them into a state of total confusion, and the weapons of destruction with which they would destroy Israel, he will cause them to turn upon their own allies and they shall suffer a terrible disease, the soft tissue such as their eyes and tongues will melt in their sockets, and their radiated flesh cooked to the bone will slide from their bodies while still standing. See Zechariah 14: 12.

Then all those who sing and dance with their eyes and hands raised to the heavens in worship of a god they neither know or understand, can kiss goodbye to their great cathedrals of Marble, stone and crystal, for all the surviving Nations, will send their representatives, who will go up each year to Jerusalem in the land of Israel, to pay tribute to and to worship the Lord as King, and woe betide any nation which refuses to do so, See Zechariah 14.

Malachi 3: 1-2; The Lord answers, "I will send my messenger to prepare the way for me. Then the Lord you are looking for will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger you long to see will come and proclaim my covenant."
But who will be able to endure the day when he comes? Who will be able to survive when he appears?

Evil and Good can exist without religion. When people were dragged out onto the streets in the French revolution and "executed" I'm sure that would count as murder.

Mob violence murdering people is different from divine law carrying out justice for the murdered one. Murderers were executed for murder.

The French Revolution was not divine law being carried out. It was the free will of people acting on their own agenda. Even clergy do things 'In God's Name' to carry out their own agenda often political.

Both: Matt 16v27 and 25v31 talks of the time of Jesus 'glory'.

At that time Jesus gathers nations before him, so to speak, and humble sheep-like ones 'survive' according to Matt 25vs32,46.
Survive or delivered into the start of Jesus peaceful thousand-year reign over earth, and they can continue to live with everlasting life in view.

Jesus judges on the basis of Matthew 25v40 in the treating of his brothers.
Also, how people respond to the proclaiming of the good news of God's [not men's] kingdom before the end of all badness on earth comes on earth and Jesus ushers in Peace on Earth toward men of goodwill.

So if God told you to slaughter a hundred starving babies with a broad sword in a dream tonight, and you do it, you are saying that in the court of law you are protected from being charged with murder since "God told you too"? I can already guess the outcome of that trial...

Remember: while on earth Jesus taught Not to live by the sword.
The heavenly resurrected Jesus still teaches Not to live by the sword.
Compare Matthew 26v52 with Revelation 13v10.

Look. No human is involved at Rev 19vs11,14,15; Isaiah 11v4.
Jesus uses, not humans, but angelic armies in the heavens.
It is Jesus words, not human, Jesus words are sharp as an executioner's sword to rid the earth of those that want to ruin earth. -Rev 11v18b; Psalm 92v7

The Lord our saviour is no mere pussycat. The great tribulation, wherein the Lord saves his chosen people, whose holy city will be surrounded by the Nations of the world, occurs Immediately before the thousand year rule of the risen body of our saviour, which was torn asunder and poured out as fire on the heads of all those who believed his words as spoken through his obedient servant Jesus, when those of the first resurrection will take the thrones that have been prepared for them, through who, our Lord and saviour will judge the whole world with justice by means of a man he has chosen. And He has given proof of this to everyone by raising that man from death.

Revelation 19: 11-18; “Then I saw the heaven open, and there was a white horse. It’s rider is called Faithful and True; it is with justice he judges and fights his battles. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and he wore many crowns on his head. He had a name written on him, but no one but himself knows what it is. The robe he wore was covered with blood. His name is “The Word of God.” The armies of heaven followed him, dressed in clean white linen. Out of his mouth came a sharp sword, with which he will defeat the nations. He will rule over the nations with a rod of iron, (Not with a feather) and he will trample out the wine in the wine press of the furious anger of the Almighty God. On his robe and on his thigh was written the name, “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

Then I saw an angel standing on the sun. He shouted in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair; “Come and gather together for God’s great feast! Come and eat the flesh of humans, of kings, generals and soldiers, the flesh of horses and their riders, the flesh of all people, slave and free, great and small etc.”

This correlates perfectly with the Old Testament, where it is written.

See Zechariah 14.

After the thousand years have ended, Satan will again be let loose to gather his armies to surround the Holy City once more, but fire will come down from heaven and incinerate all physical life forms that remain on this planet, even the seas and all therein, will be no more.

Zephaniah 1: 2; The lord said, "I am going to destroy everything on earth, all human beings, animals, birds, and fish. I will bring about the downfall of the wicked. I will destroy all mankind, and no survivors will be left. I the Lord have spoken." Verse 18; "On the day when the Lord shows his fury, not even all their silver and gold will save them. the whole earth will be destroyed by the fire of his anger. He will put an end----a sudden end---to everyone who lives on earth.

It is really sad - and a little scary - that supposedly sane and balanced minds actually believe this stuff.

The only things i think God did was create and put in motion the universe and let it function with the laws of nature. God does not murder, God is not guiding humans, our free will is.

God did put things in motion. Adam wrongly used his free will to put Satan in motion as the god of this world of badness [2 Cor 4v4]

Adam, not God, as our family head, chose people rule over God rule and Satan as 'god' [2Cor 4v4] . God sent his son to undo what Adam caused.

Free will guides humans. But God does guide those who chose of their own free will to follow God through his Word [Bible] -2 Tim 3vs 16,17.
