Is it important to know if God is real or not?

Oh honey! You have indulged yourself 1,060 times on this forum alone!

Most delicious.

They say everything we do is in self-interest. Personally, I don't believe everything they say but there is a measure of truth in it. That is really what I was getting at.

So far, these reason have been offered up: greed, pride & fear. Perhaps it might be better to, despite what they say, go "crazy". Perhaps calculated "madness" is the best reason; least we foul the air with our human stench.

Who are "they"?

Very interesting but who are "they"?

*edit*. The greatest collection of information, ever, at the tips of your fingers and you're up here pestering me. One might think that you don't really care about who they are. If you want to know who the originator or the major proponents are then ask Google. If you want to know who's influence I was speaking from, that'd be Dostoevsky; although he is not really a they, he's more of a them but he does address they.

Honestly, though the they is unimportant, it was just a conceptual device (if it makes it easier replace "they" with "Bob").

EDIT* Here I did it for you.

I'm so sorry for inconveniencing you.

Did you even look at Google's search? There is tons of information right there, complete with references. So, it is clear you do not really care about the topic on hand or references. If you want to get back on topic then I'll be happy to discuss it over with you but I am not going to continue to play these stupid little games with you.

It is up to the one who originally provided the info to also provide references to back it up. Why should he go looking up information to support something YOU posted? That's not his responsibility, it's yours.

As per the OP, I don't think it's really all that important right now simply because we don't even have the capacity to know. I think once we have the capacity it will be important, just not now.

nope, i dont believe in the devil even more than i dont believe in god

Not wanting to get hammered?! ;) Nice evade.

But for those that do (believe in Satan/The devil):
Allah says:

O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and good on earth, and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). Verily, he is to you an open enemy.

He (Satan) commands you only what is evil and Fahsha (sinful), and that you should say against Allah what you know not. {The Holy Quran 2:168-169}

Peace be upon you.

"That's not his responsibility, it's yours."

Says who? Where is your backing reference? I have no such responsibility and this is off topic at any rate.

"simply because we don't even have the capacity to know."

Says who? I want to see some backing reference.

And for some more of Allah's word:

28. How can you disbelieve in Allāh when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned.

29. It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth. Then He directed Himself to the heaven, [His being above all creation], and made them seven heavens, and He is Knowing of all things.

30. And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allāh said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know."

{From The Holy Quran in Surah 2}

Peace be upon you
