Is it shocking that Pelosi would berate white males?

It's not just about race here, it's about the same group of clueless white male millionaires who decide the fate of vulnerable groups without bothering to get input from members of vulnerable groups.

I don't think that using 'not all white people' as a way of dismissing the grievances of minorities is right. I see many on the right do just that.

You seem to think that anyone suggesting white men are capable of bad actions is automatically attacking white men. Is there any reason for this defensiveness?

Yes. I suppose the defensiveness come because I was brought up to challenge racist beliefs. We are not talking about whether or not white men are capable of blame worthy actions. We are talking about whether or not white men are blame worthy. Their is a distinction.

I don't think all white men are blameworthy, but are you saying that blaming any of them is automatically making them blameworthy? I'm distrustful of this line of thought I guess because too many people use it to absolve themselves of responsibility toward minorities.

That is not at all what I am saying. I am saying that blaming "white males" is blaming "white males." Unless you add more that is all you are achieving.

Perhaps Pelosi should be more specific. I guess she expects everyone to know what she's talking about.
Absolutely she should. She failed to articulate much of an argument at all. The argument amounts to:
The committee is made up of five white guys.
White guys are not chicano-Latino
Therefore Chicano-Latino interests will not be represented.

It is a non sequitur as I am sure you can see. Even with the clarification that "it is about who wasn't present," the argument still fails.

The comment she made merits criticism. I would expect her to change this.
