Is masturbating bad at all ?

If it's any help, I've masturbated regularly from the age of 14 and still do at the age of 83 and I've never once engaged in human trafficking. Difficult to believe I know, but true.
I’ve managed to eat cake for decades too, without ever going on a demented feeding frenzy in a bakery or OD-ing on the stuff.

Funny how religious institutions, and religiously led nations, are often rife with every kind of abuse and exploitation. I wonder why that is?

Yes. Pictures and video of 'other people'

I doubt they use pictures of trees, birds, etc. but who knows how twisted some people may be.

OK, you deserve a more detailed response.

When we say "use someone" in a derogatory fashion we typically mean that we attain some personal aim by taking advantage of another person. So, if I employ a plumber to fix something in my home, am I using him/her? Yes, in a sense, but that's not considered wrong. What's the difference? I would suggest two things, consent and reward (payment in this case). Another example. Someone pretends to be in love with someone else in order to marry them for the sole purpose of getting a visa. I would call that the "bad" kind of using, as it involves deception and the promised reward (a loving marriage) is not delivered.

So, if I watch porn in order to masturbate, is it "using" in the negative sense? The actors consent to appearing in the video, and are rewarded (paid) to do so. The answer seems to be "no".

Religions naturally picked up on the fact that if you want to control people one of the best tools to use is to control their sexuality. Masturbation takes away that power and is therefore evil.

Yes. I was intending to say something similar. Take the most powerful physical urge we have (it beats survival at times) and convince people that it is "sinful" and that they will be tortured for eternity if they do it (outside certain very narrow constraints). Of course people do it anyway, but suffer fear and guilt. Then offer a way out of the punishment (salvation) that is only available through their religious organization. At a price, of course. Voila, the history of the Catholic church in a nutshell.

It's so much more insidious than controlling sexuality. It's life itself they want to control, and they made sure to state all sins are equal and offensive to god, with death and destruction for those faulter in the slightest. You can have all the rules about sex you want, it's all that death that controls people. Are you gonna have risk the sex when your neighbor just got his head crushed in for picking up sticks on the wrond day?
It's also not religions. It's just not. The Celtic and Germanic tribes didn't have them, the Japanese traditionally are more sex friendly, the Hindus have a book on sex positions. It's religions like the Abrahamic religions that have this terrible problem of being anti-sex.

I'm would imagine porn stars and nudie mag women could either...
-care less that people use their image to masturbate
-might be honored that people use their image to masturbate
-might find it funny that people use their image to masturbate
-might etc etc.

Yes. Or be pleased that people use their product, thus ensuring their next pay check.

Okay...and you chose to share that with everybody???

EW!

(was it fun? Was it good for the floor, too?):D

As soon as I realized what I was doing I woke up. You have no idea what I share with people. This is quite mild. I'm fasting from sexual activity, including masturbation. Was it fun? I can't comment to that. There must have been something to it though, otherwise I wouldn't have woke myself up "humping the floor". I'm thinking my face was red about it, although I'm not sure why. I doubt the floor played much attention. I'm a mess.

Did I tell you the story about the best beer I ever drank in my entire life?

I'm thinking they likely find it a little weird, yet expected and I'm sure it can lighten up the mood a little, umm ... in a humorous way. I doubt they are honored by it, but I think they enjoy being desired. I imagine it's unprofessional for a photographer to get too overly worked up when doing a nudie photo shoot. No, I know it is. I imagine it to be an odd occupation, and even for photographers, unless it's a friend shooting the images. I like to paint the images, but I'm unsure how people feel about me choosing nudes. I like them, myself. My first nude photography gig, I was a little too enthusiastic when she dropped her panties. That's been several years ago, maybe a decade and a half or so. She was an old friend from school. It wasn't anything terrible, but I would have used up 20 rolls had I not been using a DSLR. The silver lining is she had no issue finding enough photographs good enough to utilize for her website.

Anyway, I imagine some things because some seems are evident enough to imagine them to be true.

etc. etc.
