Is Sarah Palin Finished?

Answering the original question again... Is Sarah Palin finished?
CPAC - convened and took a straw poll as to who they wanted running for President in 2012. Here are the partial results...

Texas Rep. Ron Paul: 30 percent
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney: 23 percent
Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson: 6 percent
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie: 6 percent
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich: 5 percent
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty: 4 percent
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann: 4 percent
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels: 4 percent
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin: 3 percent

Yippee!! The conservatives aren't all brain dead after all. I am thrilled to see Ron Paul at the top of the list and if I have a chance to vote for him I will once again change party affiliation (from LP) to do so. He's not perfect in my book, but the closest thing to it we have to choose from by miles.

And of course I'm very heartened to see Palin coming in at 3% where she should be.
You do understand that Ron Paul's supporters rigged the vote, right?

Not even a mention of Mike Huckabee.

I am somewhat amused at this identification. One can only imagine the howls of outrage if anyone dared to refer to Obama in this way.

I wouldn't have a problem with it, but people would misconstrue it to be a racial remark even when they know that wasn't the intention.

Didn't know that but doesn't surprise me. The Ron Paul support organization has pulled off some stunning "stand up and take notice" coups before. Breaking the record for campaign contributions in a single day for instance.

The thing is, he did VERY well in a few states in the primaries last time around including a situtation in Nevada where, I forget the outcome but he was in very strong contention for winning that state. I think they pulled some sh** to rook him out of it.

Things like this do tend to have an impact.

Do I think he'll be the GOP nominee? Not really, but I wish him the best.

To tell you the truth, I thought Ron Paul was a kook back in 2008. Hindsight is 20/20. I can see that he was right about many things now.

Probably not as scary as I find the idea of Joe Biden being a heartbeat away from the Presidency. :flirt:
Like I said before; Obama wanted an insurance policy.

I think many recent VP nominees fall into that category. The problem comes when the public percieves the Presidential candidate as having a higher than *normal* chance of medically checking out before his/her term is up.

I agree. That was one of my first thoughts with McCain. How long is the duffer with the dicky ticker gonna last in the hot seat?

I don't know, but he is a tough old bird. If you want to talk about tickers, Cheney would be a better example. Then there was the thought of Pelosi next in line.

I used to love when people wanted Bush impeached. I said great, then Dick would be President. Talk about insurance policies!

People don't think ahead about consequences, do they?

All I know is, I figured out a long time ago that Republicans talk about small government a lot but when it comes time to deliver, they do just enough to claim they've saved us from those pesky Democrats. In reality, they're both big government and the GOP is just less so (ever so slightly) and in slightly different ways. Dr. Paul votes no on new legislation so often he earned the nickname, "Dr. No" in Congress. He almost always votes no on things that according to his (which is very close to mine) reading of the Constitution, Congress does not have power over.)

He might be a little "weird" but I've always preferred weird people over those who smile a lot and then stab me in the back. And unlike a lot of people who talk a good game in , he has a Congressional voting record of, what is it now? 10 terms, to illustrate he does what he says he does.

A friend of mine calls the Dems and Repubs both BGP's. One is the Big Gov't. Party, and the other is the Bigger Gov't Party; it doesn't really matter which label you stick on which one.
