Is Sponge-Bob Square Pants a 'gay' symbol?

The fact that they've made Sponge Bob cartoons to use in school as homosexual propaganda "education" is proof enough that Sponge Bob is a gay symbol.

What on earth are you talking about? If you are going claim something, please provide a VERY credible source.

What schools? How is it being used this way? Do you have any references?

Sorry, I have a hard time believing that teachers are making their students watch sponge-bob for some sort of "gay awareness" curriculum.

Homosexuals are appealing to the title of the opressed where the Blacks, Catholics, Jews, and Latinos stand here in America. Homosexuality though does not belong there, for one main reason.

It is a sexual preference, not a race issue (affiliated w/ religion).

Homosexuality in most cultures is looked down upon. To teach children that it is all right to be gay, by showing it on TV, would be to upset a great majority of society. No homosexual culture would exist today if homosexuality was widely practiced in it over time, the world today would not be, if long ago the Homosexual agenda was preached and accepted by the whole of society.

In a new video to be distributed to 61,000 schools across the nation, homosexual activists are using popular children's TV characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Barney the dinosaur to surreptitiously indoctrinate young children into their lifestyle, a pro-family activist group charges.

Based on the 1970s hit song "We Are Family," the video will be distributed to public and private elementary schools nationwide March 11, along with lesson plans for teachers, points out the American Family Association.

The distribution, sponsored by FedEx, will coincide with the video's broadcast March 11 on Nickelodeon, PBS, and the Disney Channel in celebration of the proposed National We Are Family Day. AFA researcher Ed Vitagliano sees the project as an "open door" to a secondary discussion of homosexuality, noting the the foundation has a "tolerance pledge" on it's website that children and others are encouraged to sign, which includes sexual orientation. "While we want everyone to respect other people's beliefs, we do not consider it appropriate for children's television to be used in an effort to indoctrinate children to accept homosexuality," he said.

Vitagliano says the foundation is employing a bait-and-switch approach, with popular children's figures such as Arthur, Dora the Explorer, JoJo, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Big Bird and Bob the Builder. The objective is to get children to the foundation's website "and there they're given the full pitch about homosexuality," he said.
Video producer Christopher Cerf called the video an "unprecedented event." "For the first time characters from all of the important kids shows came together to appear in the same video," he said in a November news release. "The producers and performers from each show embraced the spirit and message of this project."

The We Are Family Foundation was founded by singer-songwriter Nile Rodgers, who wrote the hit song recorded in 1979 by Sister Sledge. The video was financed by a grant from the Toni Mendez Shapiro estate. "Cooperation and unity are the most important values we can teach children," Rodgers said. "We believe that this is the essential first step to loving thy neighbor." The We Are Family Foundation says its partners in the production are the Anti-Defamation League, Crown Theatres, Disney Channel, FedEx, Nickelodeon, HIT Entertainment, Nile Rodgers/Sony Publishing/The Bernard Edwards Estate/Warner Chapel, Nelvana, PBS, Scholastic, Sesame Workshop, Toni Mendez Shapiro Estate, and WGBH-TV in Boston.

A Federal Express spokesman said the company is "proud" to provide shipping for the project.
"Promoting diversity is part of our corporate culture at FedEx," said William G. Margaritis, senior vice president, worldwide corporate communications.
Characters appearing in the video are from award-winning shows including "Arthur," "Barney," "Bear in the Big Blue House," "Between the Lions," "Blue's Clues, Bob the Builder," "The Book of Pooh," "Clifford the Big Red Dog," "Dora the Explorer," "Jimmy Neutron," "JoJo's Circus," "Kim Possible," "Lilo and Stitch: The Series," "Little Mermaid," "Madeline," "The Magic School Bus," "The Muppet Show," "The Proud Family," "Rugrats," "Sesame Street," "SpongeBob SquarePants," and "Zoom."
The video also features cameo appearances by entertainers Bill Cosby, Diana Ross and Whoopi Goldberg. [/FONT]

That was about 2 years ago, and WND is notorious for posting bogus news. Do you know of any schools who actually have this video?

2 years later, has the video destroyed out society or the minds of our children?

Personally, I think only the truly disturbed could watch an episode of Sponge-Bob and say "Oh my! A gay sea sponge!"

Maybe sponge-bob is tinky-winky's boyfriend.

Forgive me of my passive ignorance. Ignore my past post concerning the "gay Sponge Bob", upon watching the video, which i should've done in the first place, i discovered that it has nothing to do with any homosexual agenda. I am ashamed at these "Christians" who make up things to attack Homosexuals with.....I am sorry. Although i agree that it is a sin, this video has nothing to do with it....

Watch the Video here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6852828/

Spongebob might have been innocent this time around, but Stitch was in drag!
Not to mention that Bugs Bunny was doing it over forty years earlier (and french kissing Elmer Fudd), as a society, we're doing fine and I do not believe this to be a concern.

But...Sailor Moon is Japanese, right? That means she's probably Buddhist or Shinto. Wouldn't that, by definition, make her a heretic? :D
Nah, that would make her a pagan. To be a heretic you have to call yourself Christian or Muslim or whatever, but have different beliefs to the mainstream.

Spongebob is a sponge, sponges reproduce asexually, but are also hermaphroditic, in a way. They aren't really even a single organism but what a Creationist would call a "missing link" between unicellular and multi-cellular life. They're colonies that act as a single life form - this is why spongebob can regenerate limbs, get cut up and reform etc.
There you go, more than you ever wanted to know about sponges.

Calling spongebob a gay icon is blatantly absurd in my opinion.

Actually, sea sponges can reproduce sexually as well, the larvae are flagellates that get carried by the current.

Yarp, hence me saying they're also hermaphroditic.
If i remember correctly, each individual cell takes on a specific role dependant on its position within the adult colony, some become germ cells and so produce gametes.

You think that's a bad mouse pad. The mouse pad in our office is a picture of all the store managers in the district as well as the district manager.

They are watching me!!!
Well, I don't feel so bad about Mr Square Pants then, you have it worse than me, that's just going too far...

They want you to worship them...it's a conspiracy.. ;)

Overtly subliminal tactics I would say...
