but he left ppl behind

...yes....
But the condition of 'beyond reason of mind' cannot be judged. Even our criminal laws in England can provide for this condition and our Courts can, in certain circumstances ..... find defendants 'not guilty by reason of insanity'. A % of suicide cases fall into this bracket.

suffering has no purpose

I'm not sure....
An experience of suffering can change a person for the better. Take a careless and self-centred person and put that person through an experience which causes suffering. At the other side of that experience this same person may, just may, have developed a sense of empathy for others who are suffering.

Ergo...... suffering can change us for the better...... sometimes.

If you're feeling seriously suicidal, you should call 911 or 1-800-273-8255. Please don't hurt yourself. There's help for you.

Hi Saint....

You mentioned earlier that you have felt like suicide. A long time ago I designed light-weight sea rowing dinghies. I used to row them across the Estuary to Essex in all kinds of dreadful weather, and sometimes rowed all the way to Belgium, and once to Holland. I came so close, so often....... and so alone, that for weeks after a close shave (I was run down and washed aside by a ship once)....... I would feel so chilled out. Big Electric Bill?..... I'll sort it sometime, etc..... nothing could stress me out

I was living.... surviving..... on suicide risk. I took the English Samaritans training course in 1984, and it changed the way that I thought forever. The course was really full on, and I never realised how strong a Samaritan has got to be with just a mind, voice and phone.

If you have such a charity or service where you live, you wanna think about doing the course. Honest.

I would like to get involved with suicide prevention, but I'm probably not stable enough myself to do it right now. Right now, I might be homeless on Friday if we can't work a plan out with the landlord. So I have my own **** to deal with. I have talked people out of suicide, though.

You live with your Mum, right?
I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties.
It's great to hear that you talked people out of suicide.
When things get better for you and you can think about it, do go on your local course. You'll be amazed at the techniques used to draw folks out with their problems, and to get them to talk and think of other routes to go.......... where there is life, there is hope.

We had to do everything with questions. Only questions were allowed, and some were really full on.......... It's great when you help someone, and hell on those occasions when you discover that you failed.

Yeah, I live with my mom. It's a scary situation.

I want to study psychology and help people in some way whenever I decide to do something about my education.

Thanks for the offer. That's very kind. We're all depressed people, but at least we'll have company! :p
