Not any more than Nazism is "reasonable."If the Crusades were started because the Pope said "Christ commanded it", wouldn't that qualify as being religious?

The logic works both ways: Surely you don't suggest that the millions killed in the name of religion were being religious?
People can rationalize anything.
It depends upon what your definition of religion is. Some people think religion is all about gaining power, and bending people to your own beliefs.

There is some truth in that kind of thinking, but it's stereotyping and not universally true.It depends upon what your definition of religion is. Some people think religion is all about gaining power, and bending people to your own beliefs.
I agree. There is some truth in that kind of thinking, but it's stereotyping and not universally true.
Sounds like a strawman...I think Rolling Stone is conflating some forms of communism, and perhaps fascism, with reason.
Praying is How one gets it, and reasoning is how one accept it.:shoutAnd what, pray tell, does any of that have to do with having to be infused with the Holy Spirit in order to understand?
You've been studying James Dobson and Pat Robertson again.
So the same logic works for one but not the other? That's called "hypocrisy."Sounds like a strawman...
One but not the other what?So the same logic works for one but not the other? That's called "hypocrisy."
Rationalization is not reasoning. Reason, as conceptually demonstrated in things like logic and deduction, follows rules that limit it. Rationalization is making excuses. The logic works both ways: Surely you don't suggest that the millions killed in the name of religion were being religious?

She sure can waffle....Atlas Shrugged was 1300 pages of Ayn Rand making excuses for being selfish.
She sure can waffle....
From there to Ayn Rand.Is the Concept of God Necessary To Explain Anything?
Yes. It's necessary to explain us. The actual existence of "God" aside, the concept of God is certainly a part of the hunan condition, and it would be very difficult to even begin to understand we humans without understanding the God-concept, and how it works within us.Is the concept of god necessary to explain anything? If so, what? How is it necessary? If not, why not?
Yes. Republicans love her for that. *smile*Atlas Shrugged was 1300 pages of Ayn Rand making excuses for being selfish.
