Is Trump About To Blow His Record Of No New Wars?

see post 49 and this:

How much petroleum does the United States import and export? - FAQ - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)

If Iran, Russia's ally, closes the Straits, the Chinese will be pretty pissed. They get 43% of their oil from the Middle East.

Top 15 Crude Oil Suppliers to China
I don't think that you understand how the global oil markets work, or the strategic value of controlling the output and distribution.
If the USA starts a war with Iran, and Iran closes off 40% of the world's petroleum shipments, and the U.S. military "needs" most of the U.S. production to supply the war effort, the price of gas could easily reach $30/gallon.

How long do you think Americans would do that, before they capitulated? About 5 minutes is my guess. Capitalism will deal with market forces. And then the USA will blame the people that they appointed to the government for the problems that they insisted on creating.

Except Trump, as we all know. He could shoot somebody in broad daylight on 5th Avenue and not lose any support. Because that's what he and his millions of Christian supporters (like @Revoltingest) are all about.
If that happens, Tom.… everybody loses.
Not Putin.
And if Putin wins, Trump wins.
It's us little people, Trump refers to us as "losers", who lose.
I guess a broken clock is right, twice a day.

Great article. Thanks.
Everyone knows that oil is a finite resource. The question is, when will the party actually end? I figure there will be a gradual increase in prices which will cause a gradual end to use of oil products.
In the end, "It's the economy, stupid" as they say. Economics will drive decisions about energy sources as it does everything else.

Its interesting to read about the last years of whale oil and how kerosene came to replace it..

aircraft carriers to back up Iran.

Russian CVs are a joke. It only has one and its single super-carrier was scrapped 2 decades ago. Russia's existing CV is not even on par with UK carriers let alone US super-carriers. The single CV is also in dock for repairs so it not deployment ready.

Also note that Russian surface Naval groups, if a war occurred, wouldn't make it to an ocean before being destroyed. Baltic and Black Sea would be gauntlets. White Sea only has one exist.

Why would you refer to them as "savages"?
They've never attacked us and we have attacked them multiple times, starting in the early 50s and including a war with at least a million casualties.

Well, they execute children first of all, and their leaders say such stupid things on a regular basis, they make Trump look like a schoolboy.

Are you familiar with their rhetoric, and their threats of blowing countries "off the map"..? Their massive human rights violations?

Implied in the OP premise is that until now President Trump has kept his promises of not starting any wars. Nice of you to concede that.

Can you find an actual quote threatening that?
I can find one where the US threatens to obliterate
them...the people, not just the government or military.

The Iranian clerics are considered infallible.. and I don't have a clue how to read their intent... I do know they have threatened the Saudis since 1979..

Experts, building on the foregoing, say that the end of Mullah regime is looming. Anger is everywhere, they add. The Iranian people are brimming over with anger. Their living conditions are deteriorating, the experts insist. They also argue that the world's outlook on the Iranians has become negative due to the sectarian practices of Mullahs.

If this is what you mean, I don't see it as a threat that Iran will do the deed.

Read the entire link. It contains multiple threats including that Iran will participate in Israel’s destruction. Also, threatening to do it via proxies does not make it any less evil.

I asked the other poster for a quote, not a long read.
