Isis: Threat to the Civilized World

Pot, meet Kettle:
And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them. 2 King 2:23-24

And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.And he said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour. Exodus 32:28-29

And so it was, that all that fell that day, both of men and women, were twelve thousand, even all the men of Ai. For Joshua drew not his hand back, wherewith he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.And it came to pass, when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness wherein they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned unto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword. Joshua 8:24-26

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. Hosea 13:16

And I found this interesting piece:
Is The Bible More Violent Than The Quran? : NPR
"Much to my surprise, the Islamic scriptures in the Quran were actually far less bloody and less violent than those in the Bible," Jenkins says.

Jenkins is a professor at Penn State University and author of two books dealing with the issue: the recently published Jesus Wars, and Dark Passages , which has not been published but is already drawing controversy.
Violence in the Quran, he and others say, is largely a defense against attack.
"By the standards of the time, which is the 7th century A.D., the laws of war that are laid down by the Quran are actually reasonably humane," he says. "Then we turn to the Bible, and we actually find something that is for many people a real surprise. There is a specific kind of warfare laid down in the Bible which we can only call genocide."
It is called herem, and it means total annihilation. Consider the Book of 1 Samuel, when God instructs King Saul to attack the Amalekites: "And utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them," God says through the prophet Samuel. "But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey."
When Saul failed to do that, God took away his kingdom.
"In other words," Jenkins says, "Saul has committed a dreadful sin by failing to complete genocide. And that passage echoes through Christian history. It is often used, for example, in American stories of the confrontation with Indians — not just is it legitimate to kill Indians, but you are violating God's law if you do not."

Amen, and so we should thank God for the new covenant he made with us through Jesus Christ. And of course try to convince the Muslims that indeed a new covenant had been made, as I think they missed it.

Okay I will stop trying to get an answer. I will stop squeezing your sensibilities on the matter.
Morality comes from God, and only God. You have no sense of goodness that you cannot attribute to the moral will of God.

Of course I do. The golden rule is the picture of logic. I just don't think it applies to insects.

If aliens with superior intelligence arrive on our planet I may have to rethink my position. Until then I am content with it.

I would say these guys are a threat to the civilised world: Mexican Drug War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

By the end of 2013, the estimated number of killed in the Mexican drug warfare was topping 111,000 people.

So when is the USA going to get around to bombing Mexico into the dark-ages?

I've said for a few years now that the US has a responsibility to invade Mexico. Wipe out the cartels and eventually make it the 51rst-54th states. They all seem to want to come here anyway...

Morality is not the end result of reason. If you think it is, then by all means show your logic, and I will do my best to show that you are indeed wrong.

You made the claim.
It is on YOU to support it.

Now since we both know you can't, the claim can be dismissed as a bold empty claim.
Then by all means dismiss it. And I shall of course continue to make my bold and true claims as often as I choose.

How long before bold empty claims are to be treated as bold faced lies?

I understand you like to hide behind the "do not call a liar a liar" rule, but I am curious as to how many times YOU think....

You can call me a liar if you want. It doesn't bother me one bit, because I realize where it's coming from. Nevertheless, here a wonderful truth about truth: It marches on with or without us. The truth does not require you to understand it. You can be as neglectful of the truth as you desire, and the truth remains the truth.

Guilty conscience?

So you are now claiming that your bold empty claims that you cannot support are now somehow truth?

Can I have some of what you been smoking?

No guilt to be found in me sir.
Yes indeed, my bold and empty claims are indeed truth.
I'm not a doper. Are you?

I believe I just did. Reasons says if I don't want to be shot, I shouldn't shoot people. It is the foundation of all morality. As a believer you will never accept that because it runs contrary to your beliefs. Discussion on the subject is a waste of time but there is no question the golden rule is inherently logical.

Indeed, if I were a homosexual, I would want to be imprisoned. So you're right. The Golden Rule applies. Sorry for my misunderstanding.
